“Galaw Pilipinas, Galaw Balangueño”

Galaw Pilipinas is a four-minute calisthenics routine that shall contribute to the 60 minutes of moderate to
vigorous physical activity prescribed daily for children of 5-17 years of age. Last February 14, 2022, the
Department of Education launched Galaw Pilipinas, a National Calisthenics Exercise Program that will be
part of the daily exercise routine in schools and community learning centers. This program was developed as a
response to the impact of the pandemic to our learners reduced physical activities that affected their overall
health. “Galaw Pilipinas stresses the value and the need of our learners, teachers, and school officials to pay
attention not only to our cognitive and affective pursuits, but also to make sure that our bodily-kinesthetic
capacities are strengthened,” Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said.
Our role in promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among our teachers and learners has become
even more relevant and essential. One avenue of promoting physical fitness is by doing calisthenics. Thus, as
part of our cooperation with this program, the Schools Division of City of Balanga announces the conduct of
the Galaw Pilipinas Contest with the theme, “Galaw Pilipinas, Galaw Balangueňo.”

OBJECTIVES

a. promote an active lifestyle for our teachers and learners that will benefit both their physical and socio-
emotional well-being;
b. improve strength, flexibility, cardio-vascular endurance, coordination, and balance;
c. enhance cultural awareness by integrating Philippine cultures in the calisthenics exercises;
d. inculcate nationalism, unity, and discipline; and
e. produce a promotional video of the Division of Balanga City Wellness Program.

CONTEST RULES AND MECHANICS

1. The participants must read DepEd Order No. 60, s. 2021 (Guidelines on Galaw Pilipinas: The DepEd
National Calisthenics Exercise Program.)

2. The competition is open to all teaching and non-teaching personnel and students of all
Elementary and Secondary schools in the City of Balanga. There will be five (5) categories, and
these are the following:

3. All participants must be fully vaccinated and submit acceptable proof of vaccination.
4. Dancers must follow the IATF protocols;
a. proper distance of participants is at least 1-2 meters,
b. wearing of facemask is required during video presentation.
5. The entry video will be in landscape frame, with one (1) stationary camera set up (no
zooming, no video mixing, must be fixed)
6. Participants need to observe the space they’re moving that requires not being out of the
frame.
7. Participant must wear their respective school PE Uniform or any appropriate /comfortable
attire such as jogging pants, t-shirts, and rubber shoes.
8. Virtual background, video effects, and props and equipment are prohibited.
9. Participants will perform the Galaw Pilipinas Calisthenics Exercise with clear music and

in the presentation.
10. Different formations are allowed but strictly follow the original steps and movement of the
Galaw Pilipinas Calisthenics Exercise.
11. All video entries must be submitted on or before May 27, 2022.
12. In case of tie, judges will decide and whatever decision made will be final and irrevocable.
13. There will be one winner for each Category (Categories A, B, C, and D), except in
Category E (Teacher’s Category), there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Placer.
14. A point deduction will be made for those who will violate the rules and mechanics.
15. The event will be held on June 03, 2022 via FB Livestream / place to be announce later.
