There are many types of stringed

instruments. The violin family is made up

of the violin, viola, cello, and double
bass. Fretted instruments (frets are strips
that show players where to put their
hands) include the banjo, mandolin,
lute, ukulele, and guitar. Related to
these instruments are the lyre and the
harp. The dulcimer, zither, and psaltery
form another family, whose strings are
stretched over flat sound boxes. Finally,
there are the keyboard stringed
instruments such as the piano,
clavichord, and harpsichord.
 7. CLASSIFICATION
Divides a readily understood
item into equal categories and
then classifies each of those
categories by its destinctive
traits.
 ORGANIZATION
Organizes, or sorts, people or items into
categories. A good classification
paragraph:
1. Make sense of a group of people or
items by organizing them into
categories.
2. Uses useful categories.
3. Uses a single organizing principle.
4. Gives examples of what fits into each
category

Husbands and wives should also
take a personal time away from
each other. By doing such, each
one could get a chance to enrich
one’s experiences; hence each
could return to the other with a
better self-image, an increased
level of inspiration, and a more
positive outlook.
8. PERSUASION
Attempts educate reader
on a controversial issue
usually with the intent to
persuade with the writer’s
point of view.
Argumentation takes a position on an issue and
offers reasons and supporting evidence to
persuade someone else to accept or at least
consider the position. Good argumentation
paragraphs:
1. Take a strong and definite position on an issue
or advises a particular action.
2. Give good reasons and supporting evidence to
defend a position or recommended action.
3. Consider opposing views.
4. Have enthusiasm and energy from start to
finish.
