a. Provide a brief summary of the article.

The article was about Telstra leaking numbers of 132,000 people without their consent; they

were not available online but on Telstra's direct lane 1234. The problem was resolved soon after

being discovered. All affected customers were offered free service ID care. Telstra apologized

and claimed to make sure it won't happen again.

Australian businesses.
External influences which caused this problem may include social influences and technological
influences as it was no individual's fault but it was a technological problem which caused the
company to go through this..
Many external influences affected telstra after this such as social influence i.e reputation of

telstra.Business was also affected by the customers as they lost trust in telstra which leads to

less customers . It also makes the business competitors take advantage of the business

unpopularity.

A man discovered personal and confidential details of customers of ANZ bank in a trash can in

perth. This information could be used to steal identities. The documents were thrown out

during the close up and the clean up of the local ANZ branch. The bank issued an apology and

a statement saying that it will investigate further. The bank could now face civil and criminal

penalties plus fines of up to $50 million.

External influence affecting this may include ethical and legal influences. As a bank you trust

them with your personal details and it is certainly not ethical of them to throw confidential

information in public trash for everyone to find. Legal charges can apply to ANZ for doing this .

They could face a $50 million penalty fine.

Bunnings is driving into Australia's multi billion dollar pet industry. Almost 60% australians own a

pet. This sector is estimated to be worth 10 billion with a thousand products. The director of

bunnings said they see a huge potential in this industry. While as pleasing as it sounds

independent pet retailers beg to differ as they see it as a threat. Many independent pet retail

business have been closed .When asked the owners of different shops agreed and said they to

are noticing a difference in wholesale and see it as a threat.

Australian businesses.
The major external influences affecting this include competition. When Bunnings announced
their expansion these businesses saw it as a threat and went to the media or news to call it out.
Competitive situations can affect a business in many ways. Businesses aim to obtain a

competitive advantage over its competitors in order to capture a large portion of the consumer

market. There are a large number of businesses offering similar products to a select group of

consumers. The more competitive the industry, the greater the pressure placed on a business to

develop a competitive advantage over other businesses.The other external influence may

include market influence as more and more businesses are entering into pet retail seeing the

customers interest in the industry.

quaternary, and quinary industries can be attributed to a range of external influences, such as

globalization, technological advancements, and demographic changes.

1. Tertiary Industry:

The tertiary industry has grown in Australia due to many external influences. For example,

globalization has increased the demand for services such as tourism, education, and

healthcare, which has caused a significant increase in the number of service sector jobs in

Australia. Moreover, technological advancements have allowed for the growth of e-commerce,

which has opened up new markets for service providers. For example, companies like Uber and

Airbnb have disrupted traditional service industries by using technology to provide new types of

services.

Tourism industry is an example of the growth of tertiary business in Australia. Australia is a

popular tourist destination because of its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and unique wildlife.

The growth of the tourism industry in Australia has been affected by various external factors,

including globalization and the rise of digital technology. For example, the growth of

international travel and the disclosure of new technologies such as online booking platforms

have increased the demand for services related to tourism, such as transportation, hospitality,

and leisure activities.

2. Quaternary Industry:
The quaternary industry, which is focused on knowledge-based services, has also grown

significantly in Australia. This growth is because of several external influences, such as the

increasing demand for high-tech services, need for research and development, and growth of

the digital economy. For example, the development of new technologies, such as artificial

intelligence and blockchain, has led to a high demand for skilled workers in the technology

sector. Furthermore, the growth of the digital economy has resulted in a bulging in demand for

data analytics and digital marketing services.

an example of the quaternary industry is the growth of the IT sector. The development of digital

technologies has led to an increase in demand for IT services, such as software development

and digital marketing. The growth of international trade has also led to an increase in demand

for consultancy services related to international business and trade. I.e. Atlassian.

Quinary Industry:

The quinary industry, which is focused on high-level decision-making and policy-making, has

also seen significant growth in Australia. external influences such as demographic changes and

globalization play an important role in the growth of the quaternary industry. For instance, as the

population ages, there is a growing need for healthcare services and senior care facilities, which

require high-level decision-making and policy-making skills. Furthermore, as Australia becomes

more integrated into the global economy, there is a need for policymakers to make decisions

that situate with international norms and standards.

Rapid growth of healthcare industries is a major example of growth in Australian business in

the quinary industry.. As the Australian economy has grown, there has been an increase in

demand for services related to executive management, such as strategic planning and

corporate finance. changes in consumer behavior have led to an increase in demand for
services related to healthcare, such as medical research and pharmaceuticals. As a result,

Australia's healthcare industry has seen significant growth in recent years.

In conclusion, the growth of the tertiary, quaternary, and quinary industries in Australia can be

attributed to a range of external influences, including globalization, technological advancements,

demographic changes, and the growth of the digital economy. These industries are likely to

continue to grow as these external influences persist, shaping the Australian economy in the

years to come.
