Scope/Purpose: This SMP is applicable for Pull cord and Beltsway Switches
Responsibility : Instrumentsection -Engineer
Accountability : Section In-Charge
PPE:
1. Safety Gloves
2. Safety shoes
3. Safety helmet
4. Safety goggles
5. Nose mask

Tools:

1. Multi meter
2. Spanner Set
3. Screw driver set

Hazard Analysis:

Risks associated Mitigating Measures

Entering dust into lungs and eyes Wear safety goggles and nose mask
Leg Injury Carefully walk on staircase with help of handrail

Training needs:

1. First aid procedures
2. Operating procedures
3. Safety talk should be held between workmen and in-charge

Procedure:

Ø Obtain necessary work permit and LOTO for the respective belt before carrying out
maintenance work
Ø Clean Pull cord/Belt sway switch and Intermediate JB from dust and foreign material.
Ø Open the cover and check tightness at terminal block of pull cord and Intermediate JB
Ø Isolate the power for pull cord/ belt sway and Keep multi meter in continuity mode and
Connect one probe at NC/NO another probe at COM point of the contact then operate the
pull cord/belt sway and check the operation

Ø Restore the supply to pull cord/ belt sway and operate the pull cord/belt sway and cross check
with CCR
Ø Check tightness of the gland if found loose tight with proper tools
Ø Check for gland hole opening if found open, cover the gland hole using plug or silver tape
Ø For Belt sway check handle tightness and condition
Ø Check rope connected with pull cord properly and tightness of the rope
Ø After completion of maintenance work clear the LOTO and check healthiness at CCR

Emergency / Emergency Shut OFF:

1. If any unconsciousness is there, give First aid and inform to the Safety
department or Call Emergency number 7760996046.
