Women constitute half of the Pakistan’s population and their role in all the fields of

life is prerequisite for the progress of the whole nation. Women in Pakistan have
been facing many inequalities in different sectors of life from birth to old-age due to
patriarchal, cultural and societal dogmas and myths. One of the main hurdles that
Pakistani women facing is their health issues and gender-based violence issues. To
counter the women centric issues all the Pakistani women have to join their hands
and must raise voice for women empowerment and equality. It needs all hands on
the desk approach and only knee jerking approaches are not sufficient to address
women issues. Like other women of Pakistan, the young females Students of
Punjab University have also been playing key role in different arenas of life.
They have been participating not only in educational activities along with males but
also taking part in philanthropic and other social activities. The female students of
PUCP are best manifestation that fits in this frame. To pursue women
empowerment goals, the female Students of PUCP under the Umbrella of “The
blood heroes” are playing a pivotal role. They have donated blood to many
Thalassemia patients and saved dozens of precious lives and became the true
depiction of qur’anic injunction that” Whoever saved a life of one individual is as
he had saved the life of all mankind”. Along with blood donation campaign their
role in other philanthropic and social activities is worth aspiring and
appreciating. As we know that 8TH March is the international women day, and
women and men from all walks of life take part in different campaign and rallies to
highlight women issues and hurdles on this day. So with respect to this day, we must
appreciate the role females of PUCP and we must In sha Allah continue our moral,
ethical and social support for the empowerment and equality of women in Pakistan,
because our Quaid also said that “No nation can rise to the height of glory unless
your women are side by side with you.” Hat’s off the female PUCP Blood heroes
and we applaud and salute their role.
