Why you want to join the course

As an academician working at a higher education institution, I am expected to be fully engaged

in teaching and research activities. Since I am pursuing taxation law as my area of specialization,
I need to be fully acquainted with the contemporary research topics on tax and development,
advanced research methodologies being used for tax research and basic research skills that are
applied by the prestigious researchers of today’s world. I am applying to this course with a belief
that it will acquaint me with some of the most essential research methodologies, research
proposal designing and writing skills, and research output writing and dissemination skills. From
the training, I also expect to gain networking opportunities with trainees and trainers/ mentors as
well as the chance to work up on some outstanding research topics.

“Tax and governance” is an area that I need to concentrate on for the coming years.

collection cannot be achieved without good governance. The tax-to GDP ratio prevailing in my
country for the past several years has been the lowest from Sub-Saharan African countries

transparency, accountability, proper tax service, tax audit, tax enforcement, civil society
engagement and the prevalence of corruption are frequently raised as the challenges that have
been contributing to bad tax governance, it is imperative to conduct successive researches that
aim to mitigate the negative impacts of these impeding factors. The reason why I want to focus
on tax and governance in Ethiopia is because I believe that I can contribute a lot towards the
development of my country if I do researches that enhance the good governance capacity of the
government through minimizing the above impede
