QUÂN: Good morning, everyone. I hope everyone doing well today.

last week I
asked my assistant to research three opportunities for developing cultural
tourism in Dak Lak. So, Hảo, can you please share your findings with us?
Assistant: Sure, boss. After conducting research, I found that there are three
promising opportunities for cultural tourism development in Dak Lak: lifestyle,
festival, and artist heritage
QUÂN: Great. Can you give us a brief explanation of each opportunity?
HẢO: Sure. Oh Before I start, let me introduce. They are ÂU, MY, and KHANH who
help me to explain more details information about this research.
QUÂN: thank you for joining us today to share your valuable information
(Local people 1 and Local people 2 shake hand boss)
HẢO: The First opportunity is the lifestyle of the people in Dak Lak. That is
characterized by their close relationship with nature and their traditional way of
life, visitors can experience traditional farming, hunting, and fishing practices, and
immerse themselves in the local community
Dak Lak is home to several ethnic minority groups (including the Ede, M'nong,
Jrai, and others), each of these groups has its own languages, customs, and
traditional practices. Tourists can visit local villages to learn about these unique
cultures and participate in cultural activities, such as traditional dance
performances, cooking classes, and handicraft workshops
QUÂN: That sounds great!
MY: excuse me, I think there's another factor that you haven't mentioned yet
QUÂN: Oh really? Please tell us more
MY: Yes, as we know Dak Lak is known as the "coffee capital" of Vietnam, visitors
can visit plantations and learn about the coffee-making process, from picking the
beans to roasting and brewing. They can also try the different types of coffee and
learn about the local culture surrounding the drink
HẢO: That’s a great suggestion, thank you
The second opportunity for developing cultural tourism in Dak Lak is the local
festival
QUÂN: Interesting! As I know Dak Lak has many unique festivals, which imbued
ethnic identity. what did you find?
HẢO: The most famous festival in Dak Lak is Gong Festival. The festival is named
after the traditional gong musical instrument, which is significant in the local
culture. Held from March and lasts until the end of December every year, the
festival dates vary from year to year and are not fixed
QUÂN: Can you tell me more details about the Gong festival? Such as activities or
something like that
HẢO: hmm let me see, I think the local people will know more details about this
festival. Oh (MY) can you help me?
MY: No problem. During the festival, various activities and performances are held,
including gong performances, traditional dance and music, food fairs, and
traditional handicraft exhibitions.
Coming to the festival, visitors will enjoy the moments of mixing with the people
here and enjoy the music passed down through thousands of generations
Except for Gong Festival, Dak Lak also has other festivals that are very exciting
such as the Buffalo stabbing ceremony, Ben Nuoc ceremony, new rice festival,
and café festival. However, it is impossible not to mention the elephant racing
festival
ÂU: That’s right! This is the most attractive festival in our region. The time of the
festival is 3rd lunar month, there are many activities that the tourists can enjoy
such as elephants participating in races, swimming competitions, and other
games. Coming to the elephant racing festival, visitors will be impressed and
fascinated by the joyful atmosphere
QUÂN: So amazing, such useful information. This actually is a potential
opportunity for developing cultural tourism in Dak Lak
HẢO: We could also highlight the local festivals which are listed by (MY). There
celebrate the local culture and traditions
QUÂN: I see. And what about the third opportunity?
HẢO: I haven't found any specific opportunity related to the artistic heritage of
Dak Lak yet, but I talked to (ÂU) and (KHANH) who will help me represent this
opportunity
ÂU: The gongs of the Central Highlands are a unique musical heritage of my
region. The gongs are metallic instruments that are often played in ensembles
that include other traditional instruments.
many of these traditional dances and music can still be found in my province,
performed by local groups for both locals and tourists.
These performances not only showcase the artistic heritage of the region but also
contribute to the preservation of the cultural traditions and practices of the
ethnic minority groups
KHANH: Another example of artistic heritage in our province is the traditional
architecture of the ethnic minority groups
In my opinion, traditional houses have the potential to be tourist attractions for
people who want to experience the unique architecture and cultural practices of
the ethnic minority groups in Dak Lak. Today, many of these traditional houses
can still be found in rural areas of our province, serving as a reminder of the rich
cultural heritage of the region.
Developing the traditional architecture of ethnic minority groups as a tourist
attraction can be a great way to promote cultural tourism. One approach is to
showcase the building techniques used in the construction of these homes. This
could involve demonstrating how materials like bamboo, wood, and mud are used
to build walls, roofs, and floors. Visitors could learn about the design principles
that govern the layout of these homes and the cultural significance of various
architectural features.
Another way to develop traditional architecture as a tourist attraction is to allow
visitors to explore the inside of the houses, the interior of the houses are divided
into separate areas for living, sleeping, and storage so Visitors could also learn
about the unique cultural practices and traditions associated with these spaces,
such as the importance of ancestral altars or the use of specific colors and
patterns in home decor.
QUÂN: Thank you for sharing your ideas with us. I think we have some great
opportunities to develop cultural tourism in Dak Lak. Let's discuss this further and
see how we can turn these ideas into reality.
