3 Important Notes

 Due to GDPR security requirements, only pseudonymous data can be imported, and
Non- pseudonymous data will be forced to pseudonym.
 Before using OMStar 6.5.0, verify that Microsoft Office 2007 or 2013 has been installed
on the local PC.
 You are advised not to open a .doc, .docx, .xls, or .xlsx document when a report is being
generated. Otherwise, the report may not be generated properly.
 You are advised not to copy and paste a report when the report is being generated,
ensuring that the report is generated properly.
 Before collecting data, you must obtain the written authorization from customers.
Standard authorization must include the products or issue items, purposes, contents,
scopes, time limits, and other stipulations.
 Before collecting data, you must obtain pseudonymous personal data at the NE side.
Ensure that collected data has been pseudonymed.
 According to data sources required for themes to be analyzed, data collection must
comply with the principle of minimum range collection.
 Data can only be used within the authorization scope and time limit. Data use must be
dedicated for a specified person, and records can be queried.
 You are advised not to transmit raw network data out of networks of security sensitive
countries and to China.
 After an analysis task is complete, yon need to immediately delete raw data and OMStar
projects. Saving raw data or backing up the database is not allowed. Delete the project in
the Project Manager window.
 You are advised to use the 64-bit OMStar.
 To protect user privacy, you must collect pseudonymous personal data from source
devices. The OMStar provides a password authorization mechanism for data access and
displays scrambled personal data.
 The OMStar can export or save analysis results. Export the analysis results of features
containing personal data with caution. Ensure that the exported analysis results are only
used for network problem analysis. By default, the OMStar exports scrambled analysis
results.
 The OMStar is a Huawei internal tool. Therefore, it should not be released to, introduced
to, and recommended to customers. This document is only for internal use.

Release Notes 5 Important Notes

 The OMStar is a stand-alone tool. Therefore, the OS and antivirus software are not
contained in the released software. You need to periodically update the security patches
of the OS and antivirus software.
 The OMStar collects statistics about the use of each service feature and function to learn
each service function and tool performance, facilitating tool optimization. The following
information is collected: ESN of the PC, feature startup time, feature end time, feature
ID, subfeature ID, running status, and user name (domain account). Collected
information is not the data from customers' networks. If the script update function is
enabled, the OMStar automatically performs the feature statistics function and uploads
the results to the feature statistics server.

3.1 Impact of the Pseudonymous Policy on OMStar

Features
During data import, the OMStar 6.5.0 checks whether the data contains personal data.
If the data has an encryption identifier, for example, CHR/MR data, the tool reads the
encryption identifier. For the data that is not encrypted, the tool does not process the data.
Otherwise, if the sensitive information has been encrypted, the tool can properly process the
file.
If the data does not contain encryption identifiers, such as GSM and UMTS signaling data, the
tool forcibly pseudonym personal sensitive information during data parsing.

Impact of the MSISDN Pseudonymous Policy on Fuzzy Search

For the IMSI/IMEI/MSISDN/PeerISDN/IpAddr/TMSI user information, the imported data
has been pseudonymed, and the tool only filters the data. In the original pseudonymous
solution, the analysis based on the national destination code (NDC) and the fuzzy search
based on the IMSI/IMEI/MSISDN/PeerISDN/IpAddr/TMSI are affected.
For example, if you enter 136 in the IMSI/IMEI/MSISDN/PeerISDN/IpAddr/TMSI fuzzy
search function, 8613612345678 and 13612345678 can be queried. However, after
scrambling, the two numbers may be E806AABCE0B44EC25128DB and
3698FD5BC48C1E36BEBE64, and have nothing in common.
The following features are affected: CHR browsing, MR browsing, and signaling browsing

Collision Possibility of the IMEI Pseudonymous Policy

In the current IMSI/IMEI/MSISDN/PeerISDN/IpAddr/TMSI pseudonymous solution, all
fields are pseudonymed.
In the original pseudonymous solution, the IMEI pseudonymous solution is to pseudonym
6~8 bits except IMEI TAC. The specific solution is to compress the 8-bit compressed code
into 4-Byte, and then use the HMAC-SHA256 algorithm to obtain the HASH result 32-Byte.
Truncate the preceding 4-Byte and decode it as the pseudonymous result.
Theoretically, the hash result is truncated to the original 1/8, which may cause conflicts. That
is, two different 8-digit numbers. After being pseudonymed, they become the same 8-digit
hexadecimal number. The collision probability is about 0.012%, which is calculated based on
the experimental data.

After the pseudonymed IMSI/IMEI/MSISDN/PeerISDN/IpAddr/TMSI is pseudonymed, there

is no possibility of conflict even if the same IMSI/IMEI/MSISDN/PeerISDN/IpAddr/TMSI is
obtained.
Affected features are call drop in-depth analysis, access failure in-depth analysis, signaling
browsing, and CHR browsing.
