Social Responsibilities of a Company to Its Stakeholders.

Today, it is evident that companies and other establishments, both small scale and large scale, are

being faced with plenty of issues in the operations. This therefore challenges them to be

aggressive in their actions and respond positively to all the concerns raised by their stakeholders

hence becoming socially responsible.

One of the areas that organizations lay much focus on is climate change. It has been a growing

issue of concern among customers, vendors, shareholders, employees, suppliers and the

surrounding community. Any business can take charge in reducing emission of carbon dioxide

and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which largely contribute to global warming.

Businesses can do this by reducing its overall use of energy which in turn reduce emission of

greenhouse gases, lower energy costs as well as saving extra money.

Majority of the business have been involved actively in saving and protecting the environment.

This however is quite distinct from climate change as businesses have adopted programs such as

recycling to protect the environment. Businesses have opted to reduce the usage of toxic

chemicals for cleaning purposes as it will help reduce pollution. Most manufacturing businesses

have also resulted to offering organic foods to farmers instead of pesticides which contaminate

the environment. Others have resulted to supplying paper bags which last longer as compared to

plastic bags as a way of curbing plastic wastages, reducing pollution and harming wildlife.

Additionally, some of the stakeholders have requested information about the firm’s perspective

when it comes to public policy. In our current societies, issues concerning rampant increase in

abortion cases and infringement of civil rights have taken root among many. In most case, these
issues may be considered mere but have poses a huge effect among the hearts of stakeholders.

Therefore businesses are encouraged to offer more assistance to its stakeholders to easen up their

livelihood burdens. For instance, some businesses have resulted to offering special deals and free

services in areas where there is extended government shutdowns which leave some workers

unemployed. This has helped to spread a positive message among the community.
