Majors and/or Academic Options of your choosing. After you have attended all four of these sessions,
share information about the sessions and take some time to reflect on what you have learned.

Step 1: MEET THE MAJORS REFLECTION

Session #1
Major/Academic Option #1: Entrepreneurship Session led by: Sanjai Tripathi

How familiar with this major were you before the session you attended? For example, is this a major
you have already decided upon or is this a new major you’re learning about for the first time?

I was not familiar with this major at all when I walked into the classroom. However, I am glad that I
showed up and chose to look deeper into it. Mr. Tripathi was very interesting and thought provoking
when it came to the idea of starting a business. This is something I have always wanted to do and he
definitely helped solidify that feeling for me.

What were three main takeaways you learned about this major/Academic Option?

1. There are more ways to be an entrepreneur (not just the tech industry)
2. Being an entrepreneur can give you unlimited earning potential.
3. Entrepreneurship requires the ability to take risks.

What are three things that you find interesting and one thing you find uninteresting about this
major/Academic Option (if any)?

1. I find learning how to start my own business interesting.

2. Learning about how manufacturing and the design process of a product works.
3. Learning the many different aspects of how a business runs.

4. I worry about the difficulty level of finding a job right out of college.

What are two careers related to this major/Academic Option? Do the skills required of this
major/career align with the skills and interests you identified in Part 1? Do either of these careers
interest you? Why or why not?

1. With a brief search on indeed I learned that you can become a operations manager with a
degree in entrepreneurial studies. This does align with the skills I listed in part one with the
ability to adapt to different situations in order to help a company be successful running their
business. This specific career however does not overly interest me, I find myself to be more
the creative side of business and less logistics based.
2. Business owner. I am very interested in becoming the owner of a business and the skills of
this degree can really help me have a greater idea of how to accomplish this. This can give me
base line information and knowledge of how a business runs and what makes a successful
business. This job is very interesting to me and I already have a handful of business Ides I
would like to pursue in the future.

information:
● Which of them are you interested in pursuing? Why?
● Are there any that you now realize you don’t want to pursue? Why?
● Which of these majors do you think might be the best overall fit for you? Why?
○ If none seem like a good fit, what is your plan moving forward to explore alternate
majors or paths?
○ If that’s the case, which other Majors or Academic Options do you want to explore that
you haven’t yet?

Write a minimum of 100 words.

I am planning on sticking with my current major choice of marketing. I enjoyed it the most and overall
seemed as though it would set me up best for what I want to do in my future. I don’t want to pursue a
BA, or IB major now because I don’t feel as though they would be as beneficial to my future goals. The
best overall fit would have to be marketing; however I am now considering a minor in Entrepreneural
studies. I feel as though going through this process really helped solidify my feelings about my choice
in major and opened my eyes to more opportunities in addition to it.
