[SCENE 1]

Setting: Lilly’s home

Narrator:

Once upon a time, in a land not so far and not so near… in the heart of Penang Island, there

lived a wonderful tailor with his wonderful daughter. When in luck, the tailor would receive

orders from his clients, and the money from there, he would then buy beautiful fabrics and

sew it into dresses for his beloved daughter.

One day…

Lilly:

Father! Father! Look at the dress you have made for me! I look so pretty in them! This is

amazing, father!

Mother:

Oh, how wonderful darling! The dress is perfectly sewn and fits you well! How about you do

a little twirl for me?

(Lilly twirls and danced excitedly )

Father: Girl I told you to twirl not to dance, why are you doing bollywood?

Lilly:haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Father. Can I bring this dress to my hostel? Along with the other pretty ones that you have

made?

Mother:

I don’t know darling… Are you sure it will be well taken care of?

Lilly:

Please father! I promise, I will take care of them! Don’t worry.

Narrator:

The tailor fondly smiles at his daughter’s wish and nods.

[SCENE 2]

Setting: At the dorm

Dina:

Wow Lilly, are those dresses yours? They’re so pretty!

Lilly:

Hi Dina! Oh yes they are. My wonderful father made it for me whenever he has extra money
from his sewing orders.

Dina:

He must be really happy knowing how much you appreciate those. Alright then! I’ll see you

later. Bye!

[SCENE 3]

Setting: At school

Narrator:

Now if you listen carefully, you can hear happy footsteps coming down the hall. Lilly is

skipping after she heard the announcement from Ms. Ling.

[Mr Lee enters]

Mr Lee:

Okay students! This Friday we will have a Teachers’ day celebration and everyone needs to

dress beautifully and prettily for the occasion. Make sure you wear your best dress, ya?

Okay, toodles!

[Mr Lee exits and Lilly enters]

Lilly:

Oh my god, I cannot wait for this! I have so many dresses to choose from. Oh, father would

be so happy I can finally show off his beautiful hand sewn products!

[Bella enters and eavesdrop from afar]

Bella: Did I hear that right? She has many dresses.

I’m going to ‘ask’ her nicely today.

[Bella exits]

[SCENE 4]

Setting: At the dorm

Narrator:

Lilly is seen to be going through her locker because she cannot wait to attend the event!

There’s a blue dress, green dress, red dress and yellow dress in her locker. It’s almost as if

the locker is a unicorn Disneyland with all the colours involved!

Lilly:

Oh, I am so excited! Yeay! Oh my god, this is so confusing, I can’t choose!

[Bella approach from behind Lilly]

Bella: [snatches] This one is mine!

Mine

And this one, is mine.

Lilly: Hey! Those are all mine! And please, not this one Bella. My mum just sewed this dress

for me. Please, give them back!

Betty: Well, guess what? It’s YOUR problem now, not MINE. [Laughs]

Lilly: [Cries]

[SCENE 5]

Setting: At Dome

[Dina enters the scene and pretends to do something]

Narrator:

And this. We’ve seen her before but let’s properly introduce her. Dina is Lilly’s best friend at

school and they always share their problems with each other.

Dina:

Hi, Lilly! You look so sullen today.

Lilly:

[sobbing] They… they took my clothes! The pretty ones that my father made for me are all

gone! They took them all!

Dina:

Whoah, whoah, whoah! Slow down! Who took your clothes?

Lilly:

Betty and her friends! They didn’t even ask for it, they just snatched it from my locker

yesterday.

Dina:

Okay, calm down. I know what to do. I’ve got you, okay?

[SCENE 6]

Setting: At prep

Narrator:

Bella is in her own little world during their prep session, unaware of her own impending

doom.

Betty:
Guys, we have tests tomorrow. I don’t even want to study, ugh.

Luna:

I know, right? It’s really annoying!

Bella:

Why study, if we can just excellently fail? (Laughs)

[Mr Warden enters]

Luna:

What is this test even for? I can’t even remember the times table by Sir Azulwari— oh my

god, it’s the warden.

Betty and Bella: [pretends to study]

Mr Warden:

Bella. Meet me outside now.

[Mr Warden and Bella leaves to the other side of the stage]

Mr Warden:

I’ve heard some disappointing news coming from you. What’s up with taking away things

that isn’t yours?

Bella:

No sir, we only borrowed Susan’s candies and Liya’s sports shoes–

Betty:

Shhhhhh!

Luna:

If you’re talking about Vera’s shirts, yes we borrowed them too, but that’s it.

Betty:

Guys!!!

Mr Warden:

Good to know, but I was talking about the nice dresses you took from our form 1 student.

Give them back.

Betty:

But we didn’t take anything!

Mr Warden:

Give them back or I will personally enter your dorm and check your lockers. If I find the
dresses within your possession, I will not hesitate to report you to the principal.

[Scene ends]

EPILOGUE

Narrator:

And so, that’s the story of our wonderful Lilly and her beautiful dresses. The ending? Well,

Lilly receives her dresses and the bullies reflect on their behaviour.

Lilly:

Hey Dina, I got my dresses back! Everything happened so fast! What happened?

Dina:

Well… I’m actually the warden’s daughter, so… yeah…I kind of told him everything you went

through. (nervously chuckles)

Lilly:

Oh. So that’s what happened…

[Lilly and Dina exit the stage]
