GOODSTART PLYMPTON’S PHILOSOPHY

At Goodstart Early Learning Plympton Children are central to everything we do. Our learning is “Play based’’ as we believe play provides children with natural opportunities to engage in
meaningful activities that enhance physical, emotional, cognitive, creative, social, language and moral growth. With the use of both the indoor and outdoor environments, we will encourage
the children’s ability to observe, perceive, explore, investigate, imagine, make choices and problem solve. By incorporating the Early Years Learning Framework, the principles, practices and
outcomes into our daily practices, we support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school.

At Goodstart Early Learning Plympton, we acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the land on which our centre is located, and pay our respects to the Elders, past and
present. We acknowledge the spiritual connection and deep feeling of attachment and relationship, of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to Country.

Goodstart Early Learning Plympton’s Vision:

Our vision is for children to have the best possible start in life and that "through their learning environment Children are provided the tools and experiences to gain confidence, be
knowledgeable, strong and resilient.” We are passionate about Reconciliation and educating our children to recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Our Practices:

Our focus is play-based learning whilst being led by the children’s interests and voice. We believe that children should have input in the learning experiences provided for them, therefore our
program is based on emerging topics that interest the children, including a mix of experiences which are child initiated and teacher led.

We are committed to enhancing children’s self-esteem through daily interactions, developmentally appropriate experiences, and relationships based on mutual trust and respect that families
feel from their first orientation visit.

Through ongoing learning and reflective practices, we will be more likely to see knowledge and skill development within the children. Our children will be more open to different ways of
thinking, and in turn be more open minded in their approach to learning, resulting in a better outcome for your children, families and the community.

We continue to provide a secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships with our children and families while also creating a stimulating, well supervised and hygienic environment, where
children can feel safe and secure.

Our Children:

Our children are provided with the opportunity to flourish as individuals in a culturally diverse, safe, and nurturing environment, with access to high quality learning. We encourage children to
explore and develop at their own pace within our community, through strength-based opportunities.

We talked to our children regarding what was important to them at the centre, what they liked and how things felt for them so that we could show how we value their input and recognise their
learning. Giving them opportunities to influence decisions in their world at our centre.

race, religion, language or ability. By modelling as anti-bias approach in all our interactions with the children and their families to encourage the children to interact in relation to others with
care, empathy and respect.
Family involvement is integral to a high-quality program, so we encourage and welcome families to participate in activities at the centre at any time and any level that they feel comfortable
with.
We believe that families should have the opportunity and be encouraged to review centre policies and be included in the yearly review of the Centre Philosophy.

Our Educators:

We recognise educators as our most precious resource and aim to provide them with a satisfying and safe working environment.
We value their ability to work together for the benefit of the children. Our educators are caring enthusiastic people who are here to nurture each child’s learning, thinking and development.
Educators at Goodstart Plympton are encouraged and supported to pursue their professional goals to enrich our team with further knowledge and skills.

Goodstart Plympton’s Community commitment:

We will encourage the wider community to be involved in our centre by giving the children the opportunity to have access to a wide variety of experiences by introducing them to the local
community including our local school by welcoming their children into our centre where they can share their knowledge with our Kindy age children. We also invite the wider community into
our centre such as special visitors to educate and broaden the children’s knowledge and understanding of their world.

We believe that by keeping open, honest and positive communications in turn will promote a harmonious environment which will foster an empowering partnership between children, parents
and staff which will help ensure that the children will always feel a sense of Being, Belonging and Becoming.
