Discussion 7, chapter 7

After reading the chapters on diversity consciousness and inclusion, I have gained a solid
understanding of various topics. I discovered that diversity consciousness is a way of thinking
that enables us to acknowledge and value the differences among people and to capitalize on
those differences to foster an inclusive workplace. It aids in our future planning, enables us to
be receptive to new experiences, and aids in our search for common ground. Additionally, I
discovered how crucial it is to use technology and relationships worldwide to keep up with the
times. The chapters have also provided me insight into the shifting demographics in the US and
how those changes may result in future challenges. However, the chapters offer some
suggestions for averting the challenges. Children from different cultures and races can learn and
play together, for instance, which helps to ensure that they develop diverse and inclusive
mindsets as they grow older. Generally, the chapters were very helpful in fostering knowledge
on diversity consciousness and offering crucial skills to live daily life.
However, a few aspects about the chapters are not very clear for me. For instance, I am unsure
of how to incorporate diversity consciousness into my regular activities. Additionally, I am
unsure of the best course of action to take to make the most of my relationships throughout
the world and build a more welcoming workplace. Furthermore, I am not sure how to use
diversity knowledge to unite individuals and create common ground or how to confront
possible workplace division in the best way.
More case studies and examples of how variety consciousness is used practically in different
circumstances would be beneficial. It would be helpful to have more excellent knowledge about
promoting an inclusive culture and recognizing the advantages and drawbacks of working in a
varied setting. Learning more about how to use technology and international connections
would also be beneficial in keeping up with the changing trends of the times.
