SCIENCE 6

I. OBJECTIVE

A. Content Standard The learners should be able to

understand the different forms of
energy and their characteristics.

B. Performance Standard The learners should be able to identify

and explain the different kinds of
energy.

C. Learning Competency The learners should be able to classify

and differentiate the kinds of energy:
gravitational, kinetic, potential, and
ionization energy.

D. Sub tasked Competency Solve problems related to the

four kinds of energy

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic Kinds of Energy: Gravitational, Kinetic,

Potential and Ionization Energy

B. Science Idea Energy is the ability to do work or

cause change. There are different
kinds of energy: gravitational, kinetic,
potential, and ionization energy.

C. Science Processes Observing, classifying, identifying,

explaining, and solving problems
D. Value Focus Appreciation for the different
forms of energy and their
importance in everyday life

 Okay, I will write them on the

board.

B. EXPLAIN

 Now, let's talk about the different

kinds of energy. There are four
types of energy we are discussing
today, the gravitational energy,
kinetic energy, potential energy,
and ionization energy

 Gravitational energy is the energy

an object has due to its position in
a gravitational field. An example is a
book on a shelf. Kinetic energy is
the energy that an object has due
to its motion. An example is a
moving car. Potential energy is the
energy an object has due to its
position or state. An example is a
stretched rubber band. Ionization
energy is the energy required to
remove an electron from an atom
or molecule. An example is splitting
an atom.

 To help you understand each kind

of energy, I will show you some
pictures.
 Now, can you identify the different
kinds of energy in each picture or
illustration?

 Yes, Ma’am.

C. ELABORATE
 (Students counting off)
 Okay, class. Now, I will divide you
into groups of four. Please count off
from one to four.

 Each group will receive a worksheet

with problems related to the four
kinds of energy. Please work
together to solve them and
understand.  Students in Group 1: Okay, let's
start with problem number one.
What kind of energy does the
object have in this situation?
