Discussing new concepts and would like you to know what are objectives or
practicing new skills the things that we need to acquire at the end of
our lesson.

At the end of this discussion, we should

identify and use possessive pronouns correctly.
Alright?

Yes, teacher.

Okay let’s start. Our topic is possessive

pronouns.

When we say possessive pronouns these are

pronouns that are used to show your
possession or ownership of someone or
something. They indicate that they belong to
that particular person and no one else.
Possessive pronouns can be used instead of a
noun phrase to avoid any repetition.

For example:
The project on the table is Nancy’s. The report
on the table is hers.
On this sentence, we showed the ownership by
saying the ‘report’ is belong to hers and not to
anyone. We also used ‘hers’ to avoid repeating
Nancy’s name.

Here is the chart of the possessive pronouns.

Singular Plural
First person mine ours
Second person yours yours
Third person his, hers, theirs
its

Can someone read the pronoun in first person

singular?

mine
Thank you. How about first person plural?

Note that spelling of the forms. Unlike

possessive nouns, possessive pronouns do not
contain apostrophes. A possessive pronoun
stand alone and is not followed by a noun.

Other examples:
The new car is Howard’s.
The new car is his.

This is my parent’s house.

This house is theirs.

This laptop belongs to my brother and me.

This laptop is ours.

The tire belongs to that car.

The tire belongs to it.

Did you get it children?

Yes, teacher.

Let us look at some possessive pronouns

examples to have a better idea of how to use
them in sentences.

 Bobby is one of my brothers.

Okay, if we are going to use possessive
pronouns in this sentence, what do you think
will be our new sentence is?

V. REMARKS
REMEMBER!

It is important to learn possessive pronouns

because it is used to indicate possession when
pointing out something to someone.
Possessive pronouns simplify constructions
that show possession of a noun. It's used to
replace the subject of a sentence. This avoids
repetition in a sentence and makes the
sentences more concise.
