How To Use:
-Decide on which pages you would like your students to use. I usually
start the year with handwriting, number practice, and a few other easier
to teach pages. As the year goes on, I add more pages, taking time to
teach each one before students do them independently.

-Print pages (double sided is best!) and put into sheet protectors. You
could also laminate them! I find the sheet protectors last all year.

-Put pages into binder or three pronged folder.

-Students will use the dry erase markers to practice a different skill each
day. When it is time to clean up to start your day, simply erase and put
away!

-Before the students use their Morning Work Binders, it is important to

teach them the morning routine, how to use the binders, where to get
supplies, how to clean up, etc. This will look different in every classroom,
so make sure you think about your procedures!

-When introducing the Morning Work Binder, I model how they are to
complete a certain page. We practice together a few times. The next
day, they will do this page independently, and then learn a new page
once the day starts. I repeat this process the first week or so, until the
students have practiced all the pages and are able to work on their own.

-If you would like to read more about how I use the Morning Work Binder
in my classroom, you can visit my blog post.

Mornings Made Easy! By Sweet for Kindergarten

If you would like the old covers, or covers that say “Afternoon Work” on
them, they are available as a freebie in my store.

All of the additional worksheets in the previous version will also be

available as a freebie in my store. This version of the Morning Work
Binder only includes the re-usable pages.

Sample Introduction:
I only introduce between 6 and 10 pages at first, depending on my group that

I make sure to practice the procedures and do’s/don’t’s a lot the first two
weeks I start. After the first two weeks, I may introduce a new page every
other week. These are the easier to teach pages, so I start with these first.

TIPS AND TRICKS:
Thanks to some wonderful buyers, I have some tips and tricks that may
help you implement the morning work binder in your classroom.

Donation Tree: If your school allows you to do a “Donation Tree” and ask
for certain school supplies, I always ask for sheet protectors and dry
erase markers. I usually get more than enough to last me for the year!

School Supply List: If you are lucky enough to be able to choose what
supplies your parents bring, you can add 1/2 or 1 inch binder to your list.
Just be specific (white, clear plastic cover).

If you don’t want to use a binder, you can always use a three prong
folder. Many have tried this instead of a binder.

The Morning Work binder is an easy early finisher activity! After my

students finish centers, I sometimes have them pull it out and work on a
page.

Display the page you would like the students to do on the board in morning
before they walk in. Then they will know exactly what page to do, and you
won’t be asked, “What page are we on today?”

You could also print these pages on bright Astro-brights paper!

Thin dry erase markers work better, but my students have always used
the thicker ones just fine.

To erase: I have them keep an “eraser” in the pocket of the binder.

Here are some suggestions from others- Baby socks, tissues, cut up baby
washcloth, pom-pom glued to the cap, microfiber facial pads, or felt.

If your sheet protectors start to look REALLY dirty, just squirt a drop of
hand sanitizer on them and wipe with a tissue. It looks brand new!

If you have any other tips or tricks that you use with the Morning Work
Binder, or would like me to feature you using the Morning Work Binder,
please email me at sweetforkindergartentpt@gmail.com. I’d love to hear
them!
