Introduction

• Solar Mobile charger is a cost effective smallscale generator used to

charge mobile phones. The main source of this solar power is sunlight.
• The sun is made up of hydrogen and helium and it emits enormous
amount of heat.
• The solar mobile charger works on the principle of photovoltaic effect.
• It is made up of packets of energy called “Photons”.
• These photons contains various amont of energy corresponding to
different wavelength of light.
• When a photon is absorbed the energy of the photon is transferred to the
electron.
Objectives
• To study the basic operations of a solar mobile charger.
• To know the advantages and limitations of its use.
• To know the future scope of the solar mobile charger.
• Maximizing the use of it in day to day life.
PV cell specification

• The term "photovoltaic" comes from the Greek (photo) means "light",
and "voltaic",
means electric ,from the name of the Italian physicist “VOLTA "after
whom a unit of electro motive force, the volt is named.
• The sun is a star made up of hydrogen and helium gas and it radiates an
enormous
amount of energy every second .
• A photovoltaic cell is an electrical device that convert the energy of light
directly into
electricity by photovoltaic effect.
Solar Process
• Solar cell works on Photovoltaic
effect.
• Photons in sunlight are exposed
to solarcell.
• After absorption energy is
tranferred to electrons.
• Displacement of electrons
generates current in wire.
• It flows unidirectional through
which provides electical energy.

Solar Panel 5G regulator Charger

Circuit Diagram
Circuit Diagram explanation

• A 12 volt 5 watt solar panel is used.

• whwn sunlight is max,the module can generate around 16.5v.
• Voltage regulator IC 7805 is used.
• The sublight is absorbed on the solar panel and then converted to
electrical energy of which voltage is regulated using volatge regulator
and then it is used to charge the mobile device.
• C1 and C2 are current buffers- prevent short duration current interruption
to affect charging process.
Specification of Charger

• Uses high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon

• Solar panel: 5.5V/1000mA
• Output voltage: 5.5V
• Output current: 300-550mA
Applications

• To charge mobile phone and camera.

• MP3,CD and MD players can be charged.
• This device is also used to charge batteries of portable DVD, smart cards
readers.
• Ability to recharge AA batteries any time and anywhere there is sunlight.
Advantages

• Utilize renewable sources.

• Bring convinience to the users.
• Useful for users in remote areas and portable for travellers.
• To save electricity bill cost in the long run.
• Reduce Environmental Pollution.
Disadvantages

• Solar charger need light to work.

• It will not work in cloudy days.
• Charging a device by solar charger is much slower than the main charger.
Future Scope

• Solar energy can only be harnessed when it is daytime and sunny. To

overcome this, solar panels can be coupled with back-up-battery which
can store the excess power generated during the day and use it to
improve energy to system in the absence of sunlight.
Conclusion

• Battery life is high and also its adaptability.

• So, Solar mobile charger is highly applicable in today’s world.
• Solar energy is renewable and can be used for the simplest of purpose i.e.
solar mobile charger.
• In solar mobile charger ripples are not produced as a direct DC power is
supplied.
• Versatility of solar mobile charger is high.
