The Store has been in operation for several years and is managed by a team of dedicated staff. Statement of the Problem The Store has been facing significant problems due to inadequate waste segregation and poor waste disposal practices. The staff has been disposing of all their waste in the same bin, including biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. This has led to a build-up of waste and an increase in the amount of trash being produced. The main issue at the Aki and Kai's Store is the lack of segregation of waste. The staff has been disposing of all their waste in the same bin, which has led to an increase in the amount of waste being generated, This has caused an increase in the amount of pollutants being released into the environment, as well as an increased risk of contamination to students and staff. Scope and Delimitations The aim of the researcher is to investigate the inadequate waste segregation and poor waste disposal practices of Aki and Kai's Store. Specifically, the researcher will look into the current waste segregation and disposal practices of the store, and explore the various causes of the inadequate waste segregation and poor disposal practices. Additionally, the researcher will identity potential solutions to improve the store's current practices. Ultimately, the researcher hopes to provide insights and recommendations to improve the store's waste management practices in order to reduce environmental impacts and ensure that the store is compliant with local and international regulations. BACKGROUND INFORMATION This section presents the related articles and studies containing information connected to the study at hand. Related Literature According to Raghavan (2013), we are born from the earth, we return to the earth and we sustain by the earth. Hence the environment in which we live is very important and it directly affects our lives. It is said that man is the product of his environment. Environmental problem is a global concern. It has no boundary. Around the world; efforts are being made to make people aware about environmental protection. Nowadays, we are suffering environmental dilemmas such as global warming, flash floods, and etc. One of the causes of these problems is the misbehaviour of the people towards waste management. Some people are reckless in throwing their garbage. They do not think of the possible results of their actions on the environmental as well as on health. The causes: First a.) Ignorance: Ignorance of people about proper waste disposal and people are unaware of consequences of their unwise acts, next b.) Laziness: Can cause improper garbage disposal because people not following the correct rules of proper waste disposal their always throw it what place they want and they have no care what will be the effect of it; and lastly c.) Greed: Can cause improper garbage disposal for example burning tires of wheel and plastic instead of keeping it or trade the excess automobile car's tires to maximize on it. (Pugot, 2017) One of the main causes of environmental degradation is improper management in the disposal of solid waste. It is a major cause of pollution and outbreak of diseases in many parts of the world. There is no permanent solution for environmental problems, only thing we can reduce and control waste generation by proper awareness and practice. Aki and Kai's Store need to address this issue as soon as possible to ensure their store is compliant with local regulations. Additionally, they need to ensure that their store is operating in an environmentally responsible manner. To do this, they need to assess their current waste management practices and implement changes to ensure the store is segregating and disposing of waste correctly. They also need to educate their staff on the importance of waste management and ensure that they are following the correct procedures. Finally, they need to invest in appropriate waste management infrastructure, such as bins and containers, and ensure that they are emptied and cleaned regularly. EVALUATION OF THE CASE The Store has taken the necessary steps to ensure effective waste segregation and burning, however, the signages alone have not been enough to ensure that this is done properly. The solution that has been found to work is for the store owner or staff to personally segregate the waste to ensure that it is managed properly. This method has been verified to be the most efficient way to guarantee that waste is properly separated. According to Pugot (2017) that trashes in this world will be vanished when every human being will have a self-discipline. Every store will never be complete without trashes of the surrounding; but there is a limitation of it, that well not affect the earth life. PROPOSED SOLUTIONS This research aims to find solutions on what Aki and Kai's Store should try to make their best solution on how to maintain their waste. The study was carried out at Aki and Kai's Store on NLSA Rd, Purok Masagana, General Santos City. Instead of using signage or burning waste, the researcher proposed that the owner and staff segregate their waste after work at the end of the day. They can also use a separate bin to separate recyclable and non-recyclable items and ask customers to separate their waste. According to Pugot (2017), laziness can cause improper garbage disposal because people not following the correct rules of proper waste disposal their always throw it what place they want and they have no care what will be the effect of it. This solution can help reduce the amount of waste generated and also help in increasing the awareness of waste segregation and composting. This approach could cut down on the amount of trash produced and boost people's knowledge about separating rubbish and composting, In order to prevent further harm, it is important to shift from traditional methods to advanced ways of waste management. According to the team of Metropolitan Transfer Station (2017) suggests that the implementation of the most advanced technologies such as plasma gasification, anaerobic digestion, and advanced incineration technologies could be beneficial in reducing the adverse effects of improper waste management. According to the garbage disposal system for proper waste management, Garbage are decomposable food wastes, these are excess foods, ingredients, etc., that are has no use for human consumption anymore. If you have a lawn and garden, making a compost pit can be a good way to make use of these wastes. This can be a good fertilizer for your garden plants. Proper waste disposal is very important in making sure that your place and environment is free from any waste that can cause health risks. If you want a clean and healthy environment, then you have to constantly clean your area, and put some tools and equipment’s like a garbage disposal to help you in keeping that area clean and free from harmful bacteria, (Hansen 2010) According to Russell Huebsch, Composting is a natural process in which plant and other organic wastes are broken down biologically to produce a nutrient-rich material. Recycling is one of the best ways of waste management. It helps in reducing pollution, saving natural resources and conserving energy. In cities that do not have enough land available for landfills, controlled burning of waste at high temperatures to produce steam and ash is a preferred waste disposal technique. Combustion reduces the volume of waste to be disposed significantly. Aki and Kai's Store can benefit from recycling their non-biodegradable items by taking them to a recycling center or selling them to a scrap buyer. This can help reduce waste and earn extra money, as recycling centers will pay for items such as aluminum, cans, plastic bottles and cardboard boxes, and scrap buyers will pay for metals, electronics and other scrap items. The junkshop business is very relevant these days when the campaign for environmental awareness, proper waste disposal, and recycling is most aggressive due to garbage’s presumed contribution to the pollution that usually results in flooding in most areas especially prevalent in the Philippines (Business Diary PH, 2018) According to Fridman (2016), the scrap industry does not get a lot of attention. According to him, although the industry is not glamorous, it can earn multi-million dollars and contribute to the recycling industry in a way. He implied that this far-from-being glamorous industry can earn a million dollars while at the same time contributes to the world's recycling industry. RECOMMENDATIONS 1) This study further recommends proper waste management in Aki and Kai's store, which includes not only putting up signage or burning waste but also personally segregating their waste. 2.) This way, they can help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills while also reducing pollution in the environment. They can also set up a composting system to help reduce the amount of food waste that ends up in landfills. 3.) Itis critical that they educate their employees and customers about the significance of proper waste management. This can be accomplished through the use of posters, seminars, and trainings. 4.) Finally, the store should promote the reuse of containers and utensils. This can help to reduce the use of single-use plastic and other materials. This is possible. 10 1 REFERENCES Business Diary PH (2018) How to start o junkshop and scrap business https://businessdiary.com.ph/1069/how-to-start-a-junkshopand-scrap-business/ Hansen (2010) Garbage Disposal System for Proper Waste Management http://ezinearticles.com/?Garbage-Disposal-System-For-Proper-Waste-Managem ent&id=4432903 Metropolitan Transfer Station Team (2017) Waste Management: 6 Negative Effects of Improper Waste Management http:/Awww.metropolitantransferstation.com.au/blog/negative-effects-of-improper- waste-management Pugot (2017) Waste Management: Improper Waste Disposal and Littering https://www.change.org/p/waste-management-improper-waste-disposal-and-ltteri ng-355e5196-4624-4a74-830e-Sab1cd44817b Raghavan (2013) Awareness, Attitude and Practice of School Students towards Household Waste Management: Introduction https://www.researchgate.net/publication/269520226_Awareness_Attitude_and_ Practice_of_School_Students_towards_Household_Waste_Management 12 APPENDICES APPENDIX A Republic ofthe Philippines Division of City Schools LAGAO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, General Santos Ciy o1osiz023 (Nancy B.
