Materials: Manipulative (chips), reward (candy)

Essential Question:
 How can we share community resources so that everyone gets what
they need?
 How can I work together with my community to make educated and
informed decisions?
 How are other peoples needs different from mine?

Lesson: Students will manage shared community resources in this

simulation. Students will get manipulatives of different colors. Each color
will represent a renewable source and are placed in the middle of the
group. Students must figure out how to balance their desire for 10 chips
but also must not take away resources from another group member. The
goal is for students to be able to walk away with 10 chips and everyone
have what they need.
At the end we will discuss the following questions:
What do the chips represent?
