Collision Videos Activity

Part 1: Watch each of the 5 videos posted in Schoology. Draw schematic diagrams of the

collision.

Diagrams should show the objects involved in the collision, both before and after. Masses and

velocities should be labeled when possible. Unknown velocities should be represented with an

arrow pointing in the correct direction, with the length of the arrow representing the relative

speed. So a longer arrow means a higher speed.

Part 2a: Each person at your table should choose 1 video and analyze it in Vernier Video to determine the velocities of both carts
before and both carts after the collision. Share data with your table group. We will use this data next class in an activity.
Note: Use “Add Objects” in Vernier to create a velocity graph for the second cart. Save your Vernier data in case you have errors and
need to re-analyze.
