Australia Awards Scholarships in Indonesia
Australia’s international development assistance in
Indonesia helps promote prosperity, reduce poverty, and
enhance political stability.
Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious
international awards offered by the Australian
Government to the next generation of global leaders for
development. Through study and research, recipients
develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and
help build enduring people-to-people links with Australia.
Applicants are assessed on their professional and
personal qualities, academic competence, and, most
importantly, their potential to impact development
challenges in Indonesia.
Australia Awards in Indonesia aims to achieve a balance
across female and male awardees and encourages
applicants from diverse backgrounds, including
applicants from Equity Target Groups (ETG).

The priority areas of study relate directly to the Australian
Government’s COVID-19 Development Response Plan
for Indonesia, namely:
• Health Security
• Stability
• Economic Recovery

Level of study
Australia Awards Scholarships provide citizens of
Indonesia with the opportunity to obtain a Masters or
PhD/Doctorate degree from an Australian tertiary
institution.
Awards will be offered for commencement in 2024 within
two main categories: Targeted and Non-Targeted
Categories.
Applicants from the Targeted category include:
• Equity Target Groups (ETG) that comprise people
with disability, disadvantaged women and people from
the equity target provinces, namely East Nusa
Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, North
Maluku, Papua, West Papua, South Papua, Highland
Papua, Central Papua, West Sulawesi, West
Kalimantan, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, and
Lampung;
• Government of Indonesia (GoI) agencies comprising
any candidate from a government agency (including
central, provincial, or local), but not extending to
employees of state-owned enterprises.
Australia Awards benefits
Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum
period necessary for individuals to complete the academic
program specified by the Australian education institution,
including any preparatory training.
Scholarship recipients will receive the following:
• Return air travel
• One-off establishment allowance on arrival
• Full tuition fees
• Contribution to living expenses
• Introductory academic program
• Overseas student health cover for the duration of the
scholarship
• Supplementary academic support
• Fieldwork allowance for research students and masters
by coursework with a compulsory fieldwork component

Eligibility criteria
Australia Awards applicants must meet all eligibility
requirements detailed in the Australia Awards
