The rapid development of industry has an impact on decreasing water quality due to the

disposal of waste that is not treated properly (Mehta et al., 2015: 245). Several efforts can be
made to maintain water quality, one of which is using photocatalyst technology (Singh et al.,
2019: 2). Disposal of industrial waste that is not treated properly affects the status of water
quality in the area around the industry. Water quality status is the level of water quality
conditions that indicate polluted conditions or good conditions of a water source within a certain
period (Arnop et al., 2019: 16). Photocatalysts take advantage of the properties of semiconductor
materials which have properties between that of an insulator and a conductor. Several materials
have been made as photocatalysts, such as zeolite, rare earth nanoparticles, composite materials,
metal oxides, and others (Revathi et al., 2020).

(Setiadi et al., 2013) explained that CoFe2O4 nanoparticles have potential in various
applications, for example in biomedicine as a fine magnetic material that acts as a target carrier
in drug delivery, magnetic liquids, photocatalysts, and other applications. (Ahn et al., 2003)
found that the intensity of the super magnetic properties of CoFe2O4 is seen as the particle size
decreases while the Curie temperature increases linearly as the particle size increases.

The synthesis of Cobalt Ferrite nanoparticles was carried out using the Sol-Gel method
with nickel doping of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, and the total concentration was 0.4 M. The
characterizations used were XRD analysis, FTIR SEM, VSM, and UV-VIS.

Cobalt ferrite is a hard magnetic material known for its relatively high coercivity and
saturation magnetization while nickel ferrite is a soft material with low saturation coercivity and
magnetization (Maaz et al., 2009). The combination of hard and soft materials has many
beneficial properties that are very promising candidates for various applications in biomedical,
electronics, catalytic, and recording technologies (Maaz et al., 2009). Among all inverted spinel
ferrites, Nickel-dopping Cobalt Ferrites have been widely studied considering their good
chemical and thermal stability, high electrical resistivity, magnetic anisotropy,
