Follow-up Questions

1. Are you able to easily see/find a conic section in your surroundings? Which of the
four conic sections is easiest to find? How do you say so?
2. Cite at least 2 more examples of each conic section. Attach a photograph of each
example below
3. As you document the different conic sections, do you find it significant for you as
a student? Why or why not?
4. In what field do you think conic sections are most useful nowadays?
Reflections:
1. Circles are the easiest to see wherever you go, for example plate, buttons, tape.
2. Circles: a pin and ring

3. Yes, if you value your contemporary way of life, including your use of technology
such as cars, airplanes, cellphones, and modern medica. Then the solution is clear.
4. Physics, Orbital Mechanics, and Optics.

- Shawn Olives
Reflections:

1. For me circles are easiest to be found, they can be seen as objects that we usually
see in our surroundings like coins, plates, wheels and clocks.
2. Circles: a button and pin of Dr. Yanga’s Colleges

3. Yes, because before we study these lessons. We only see objects as objects, but
now we know that some objects have different values in conic sections.
4. The Architectural or Engineering field,
- Kharina Paloma
Reflections:
1. Yes. It is normal to see some examples of conic sections especially now that we’re
using so many technologies. However the three major parts of the conic section
which is ellipse, parabola and hyperbola are the things that are rare to be found.
One of the common conic sections I've always seen is a circle. Circle is easiest to
be found in everything, places, works and many more
2. Circles: a wall clock & coin

3. It is very helpful not because of the course we’d take and we need to learn this but
because studying these helps me alot in the future which is related to this study.
Learning about this when you’re aiming to become someone who's good at
figuring the types of each conic section.
4. Engineering, Mathematics and physics.
- Allyson Ocbian
Reflections:

1. Yes some of the easy to find in the conic section is ellipses but the parabola is rare
to find in our house . For me it is an ellipse because we can see it in sports like
basketball, football, etc.
2. Ellipse: a watermelon and mirror.

3. Yes, because it’s very important to us to know the conic sections. It helps to know
the right shape of the object and if we encountered one of the conic sections in real
life we will know what kind is it and how to solve it the right way. We always
encounter conic sections in our life but we never had the interest to look more into
it. That is why we need to learn the conic section in our life.
4. Baking and sports.
- Kathryn Patiag
Reflections:

1. I was assigned in parabola and it is not a shape you would often see everywhere,
finding it was quite difficult for me. In contrast, a circle is the conic section that I
found the easiest to find since most of our objects have a circular shape.
2. Parabola: Mcdonald’s logo and badminton racket.

3. Well, I think so since learning about conic sections and gaining a better
understanding of them was fun and interesting. Since this always applies to actual
life, I believe it is significant for me.
4. This would definitely be useful in fields like physics, engineering, or astronomy
where math is utilized regularly. It would be easier for them to understand what
they should do if they put this into reality.
