Lesson Plan in Teaching Geography

I. Subject Matter: Africa: The Emerging Continent


Skill Focus: Locating Places and Geographical Features using Google Earth

II. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. identify the geographical features of Africa;
b. locate the geographical features of Africa using Google Earth; and
c. describe how the geographical features of Africa affect to its emergence.

IV Methodology :

A. Preliminaries
1. Recall
- The Teacher will ask questions to the students about the past topic.

2. Drill
- The students will identify what geographical feature is being showed in
the picture by arranging the scrambled letters.

B. Developmental Activities
I. Motivation
- The Teacher will instruct the Students to open Google Earth to locate
the geographical features that they have identified during the drill.
Once they locate the geographical features, the Students are
required to take a screen shot of it and its description found in the
Google Earth.

2. Presentation
- The Students will state that all of the geographical features that they
locate in the Google Earth will all be found in the continent of Africa.
- The Teacher will now present relevance of the topic that the class will
tackle about.

C. Discussion
- The Teacher will present a video.
- After watching the video, the Students will answer questions that will
lead them to describe how the geographical features of Africa affects
its emergence. (Questions to follow)

V. Evaluation
- The Students will play a game called “Fact of Bluff” to check that they understand the topic.
(Questions to Follow)

VI. Assignment
The Students will make a brochure featuring destinations in Africa. They will upload the
brochure in the Google Classroom.
