Exercise 2 Issues in Science and Technology


Instructions: Form groups with 3-4 members. From the list presented
previously in the module, choose one emerging ethical dilemma in science
and technology. Research about the nature of the dilemma assigned to your
group and be prepared to report the highlights of your research in class.
Create a PowerPoint presentation (no more than 5 slides) to highlight of the
summary (if you have the textbook, go to p. 11). Use the guide questions
below:
1. What is the emerging ethical dilemma about?
Predator Journals It's possible to have a trouble choosing between two
possibilities, but this is unethical.
2. What factors or events led to this dilemma?
Just 16% of the ethical dilemmas mentioned in the study were related
to bribery, corruption, or concerns with competitive interests, invalid offers,
culture shock, or leaders who were role models.
3. What are the societal implications of this dilemma?
Occurs when there is a high probability of conflict between members
of a group, culture, or society over the development and use of a common
good.
4. Why is it important to question the moral and ethical issues surrounding
innovations in science and technology?
Students who study science and technology gain information about the
origins and development of various knowledge processes as well as the
development, application, and usage of trying to cut technological processes.
Use and acquire relevance.
5. In the face of this dilemma, why is it important to study STS?
As students or individuals, assist us in resolving issues that affect the
common person. Prepare yourself to appropriately utilize science to solve
issues in science and technology.
