A convincing sense of energy was communicated, and the dynamic shaping was generally well observed.
There were a number of inaccurate notes, however, and heavy use of the sustain pedal compromised clarity
of articulation. There was some unevenness of touch in places, and the pulse was not always under control,
but the occasional hesitant moments were well recovered, and a good understanding of balance and texture
was apparent in the main.

The flowing waltz style was well reflected in the performance, even if the dynamic contrasts did not feature
prominently, and there was some real elegance of phrasing in places. Notational accuracy was unreliable at
times, and the tempo noticeably slowed in places, but fluency was maintained, and evenness of touch was
mostly reliable. The pedalling was mostly stylistically sympathetic, and balance between melody and
harmony was often well judged.

The folk-dance idiom was well communicated at times, and notational accuracy was generally. The phrasing
was not always convincingly directed, and the dynamic contrasting was understated; the touch became very
uneven in the semiquaver passagework and the accelerando was not observed, but a sense of fluency was
mostly maintained, and some clarity of articulation was achieved.

Technical Work:

1a was mostly fluent and accurate, despite some unevenness of touch, although the dynamics were omitted.
2a was neatly coordinated overall, and the very brisk tempo was mostly maintained. The scales were
accurate in notes, with just occasional blemishes in coordination. The dynamic range was understated but
the articulation was observed. Accuracy in the arpeggios was less reliable.

The performance was delivered with reasonable assurance; there was some slow progress in the technical
work, but focus was maintained throughout.
