The positioning of the testo 300 in the product portfolio is in the area of the testo 320 and testo 330, with the new flue gas analyzer replacing these.
The testo 300

Flue gas measurement truly smart.

The testo 300 is the first flue gas analyzer with smart-touch operation.

The robust construction and e-mailing of reports directly on site means the testo 300 is ideally suited for all measuring tasks involving heating.

The functions of the testo 300 will be explained in greater detail in this section
Smart-touch operation
The testo 300 has a 5" smart-touch display which conveniently shows the measuring values at a glance. The display responds immediately without
any delay.

That allows very intuitive operation – just as easy as on your smartphone.

 Make the measurement view larger/smaller with a zoom motion

 Simply swipe to go to the next screen

 Change display sequence by drag and drop

 Text input via touch

 Customers sign directly on the smart-touch display

Create & send reports

The testo 300 enables the creation of completed reports after the measurement in PDF format with just a few clicks. In the process, several
individual measurements can be selected and summarized in a measurement report.

Customer data are quickly and easily input via the touchscreen keypad. This is a significant advantage in comparison to time-consuming input on the
analyzer using cursor keys.

The measurement protocol can be sent to the customer or the office directly from the measuring instrument by WLAN / hotspot.

In addition, the customer can sign the measurement report directly on the testo 300 and thus confirm acceptance of the work done by the service
engineer.

Customer benefits:

 Paperless documentation which can be sent directly to the office

 Proper reporting of work to the customer

Standby mode
Standby mode means the instrument is always ready to go. No longer need to wait for the instrument to start up.

The testo 300 can be switched to standby mode even for long-term measurements (e.g. serviceability measurement). The measurement that has been
started continues to run in the background.

Advantage:

When more than 10 measurements

are carried out in the day, the instrument does not need to
be shut down, but simply
switched to standby mode with just one click.

The measuring instrument is

ready to go straight away for the
next customer with just one click
Robust measuring instrument
The testo 300 has a particularly resilient and high-quality construction, enabling it to deal with the special challenges across workshops, transport
vehicles and boiler rooms easily.

 Scratch-resistant, recessed display

 Display with special replaceable protective film

 4 strong magnets with rubber coating for particularly material-friendly use

 Bolted housing for a high level of stability

 Robust sensor technology with particularly durable O₂ sensor

The Testo interface (device to device) enables the measuring values to be transferred directly to an electronic device, e.g. tablet (iOS, Windows,
Android) using software / industry software
Direct transmission of measurement data from the testo 300 to a software/industry software package enables fast, error-free transmission to be ensured,
which means the service quality and efficiency of the service engineer / chimney sweep can be improved.

Measurement data transfer device to device

To transfer measuring values, a hotspot is activated under instrument settings in the testo 300. The 2nd device, e.g. a laptop with industry software, has
to be connected to the testo 300 WLAN.

The measurement that has previously been carried out can now be requested from the testo 300 using the industry software and the measurement data
are sent directly from the testo 300 to the industry software.

Customer data management

The integrated address book with details of the relevant heating system (e.g. manufacturer, system type and serial no.) enables every
measurement to be assigned to the customer and the measuring point. This means the most recent readings or reports relating to a customer can be
retrieved quickly.

New customers or measuring points can be quickly and easily populated on site via the 5" touch display. That enables structured and flexible
customer data management.

Furthermore, the customer/measuring point information can also be transferred to the device via the "EasyHeat" software.

Print
Measuring values can be printed out directly on site with the testo 300.

This ensures that the service engineer can as before print out the readings immediately after the measurement and attach them to the burner.

The printout is done by Bluetooth via the measuring instrument using the Bluetooth printer 0554 0621.

The Bluetooth range here is approx. 10 metres, which means the printer can simply be left in the case and no visual contact is needed.

More tried and tested functions

Dilution (with H2 compensation) enables flue gas measurements up to 30,000 ppm CO content.

This principle involves fresh air being added to the extracted flue gases. The testo 300 measures the CO content and calculates this with the
proportion of fresh air.

That enables high flue gas values to be measured and the sensor to be carefully conserved as well.

Other features:

 Draught zeroing with the probe in the flue gas pipe

 Quality sensor technology

 Easy sensor change by the customer

 EasyHeat software connection

 Memory for 1 million readings

 Sensor diagnosis
What are the main applications?
The testo 300 enables all the important measurements involving heating to be carried out, such as flue gas, flue draught and ambient CO
measurements, along with gas pipe tests. The testo 300 can be used both in the event of malfunctions and emergencies and for monitoring
statutory limit values or for daily maintenance work.

Flue gas analysis is usually carried out in the boiler room. Here, you always have to expect that the space will be very tight, dirty and poorly lit.

The following types of systems are involved:

Flue gas analysis

Flue gas measurements are regularly carried out for the commissioning, servicing and maintenance of heating systemsand as a check
measurement.

This involves the CO, O2 and temperature values being measured. These measurement parameters enable the calculation of all the characteristic
values which are relevant to the heating analysis.

The flue gas probe is placed in the centre of flow of the flue gas pipe. The O2 content is at its lowest and the CO2 content at its highest in the centre of
flow.

These two values are also recorded and used, in combination with the combustion and flue gas temperatures, to determine the flue gas lossand
the efficiency of the system.

Flue draught
Flue draught measurement enables the defective discharge of flue gases to be discovered and so dangerous flue gas
concentrations (accumulations) to be identified in good time.

It is necessary to have sufficient underpressure in the flue for proper flue gas discharge. The measurement involves the difference between the
ambient pressure and the flue pressure being measured. In addition, the flue gas temperature is measured.

Before starting the measurement, the instrument is zeroed to the ambient pressure.

The following are typical values:

 Forced-draught burner: 12 to -20 Pa (0.12 to 0.2 mbar) overpressure

 Oil & gas combustion plant: -3 to -10 hPa (-0.03 to -0.1 mbar) overpressure

Integrated fine pressure sensor

The integrated fine pressure sensor now also enables the testo 300 to carry out the fine pressure measurement which is mandatory in Italy, and to do so
without the need for a separate fine pressure sensor.

Ambient CO
Ambient CO measurement involves checking that no COgets into the boiler room while the heating system is in operation.

This measurement is statutory in several European countries.

An alarm threshold can be defined which notifies the user acoustically and visually if this threshold is exceeded.

Ambient CO measurement is possible in parallel to flue gas measurement and thus ensures safety is continuously checked.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless and odourless respiratory poison and the product of incomplete combustion.

CO concentrations of 1,600 ppm of the gas can cause serious consequences in terms of health and may even lead to death.

Gas pipe test

Gas pipes have a very high risk potential when there are leaks, which means that gas pipes have to be precisely examined. In some countries the so-
called tightness test and serviceability test are mandatory.

The tightness test should be carried out with air or inert (low reaction) gas (e.g. nitrogen, carbon dioxide) and at a test pressure of 150 mbar.

Following temperature compensation, the test pressure should not drop during the subsequent test which lasts at least 10 minutes. The measuring
instrument must show a pressure drop of even 0.1 mbar.

The gas meter can be included in the test.

Integrated 4 Pa measurement
Firing installations which are dependent on indoor air must only be set up in rooms with air extraction equipment when no dangerous underpressure
can arise while the firing installation is in operation.

An underpressure of more than 4 Pa should be regarded as dangerous when operating firing installations which are dependent on indoor air.

When operating tested firing installations which are not dependent on indoor air for solid fuels, an underpressure of more than 8 Pa is not
permissible. This may for instance occur in an apartment with a kitchen fan and a stove in the living room.

With the 4 Pa measurement, it is necessary to check in rooms of this kind that no dangerous underpressureoccurs during operation.

4 Pa measurement procedure

The 4 Pa measurement involves the underpressure limit value of 4 N/m² (Pa) being assessed over a time period of 3 minutes.

Before the measurement can be started, hose capillaries are connected to the pressure meter.

A capillary hose is routed outside through the window sealing, door rebate or keyhole.

The second hose stays in the room where the firing installation is set up.

With the firing installation in operation and maximum extraction, the differential pressure values determined in this way between the inside and outside
must not exceed 4 Pa, or 8 Pa for solid fuel systems.

Differential temperature
Differential temperature measurement involves measuring the temperature span between a heating system's flow and return water. You can determine
whether the span of the heating system actually corresponds to the set values.

The values provide information about how well adjusted the system is. The span has a direct impact on the mass flows and differential pressures of
the heating system.

Too high a span impairs the level of utilization of the heat generator, whereas too low a span requires higher mass flows and thus larger-sized
pumps.
A setting which leaves room for improvement can immediately be detected and appropriate energy-saving measures can be derived for the heating
system.

Differential pressure
Differential pressure measurement is carried out on the gas supply to gas boilers. This involves measuring the difference between the pressure in
the pipe and the ambient pressure.

The measured value is then compared to the value specified by the manufacturer (gas flow pressure and gas static pressure).

Differential pressure measurement is also important for setting the nozzle pressure. This has an impact on the performance of the equipment. This
performance can be adapted to the desired heat requirement by changing the nozzle pressure.
