Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture (FESTPAC)

This festival serves as the largest celebration for indigenous islanders

that is being held every four years. The theme of the celebration is the
traditional culture song and dance. This festival is being commemorated
for like 40 years. It has grown into a powerful organization in which
cultural exchange and learning from differences has improved our
understanding and respect of the region. The Festival's aims were
established in 1975 and have remained the event's driving force ever
since. This events help the culture to enrich and share awareness and be
spread throughout the world. Surely this event really gives benefit such
as the preservation of the culture and tradition in Pacific, promoting
the development and use of indigenous languages. The festival shown
wonderful and colorful attires and traditional music and dances. They are
able to make the young generation and the tourists experience a wonderful
performance that makes the viewer feel that they came from the specific
date and happenings that very moment. Events have an economic function
to play in recruiting visitors and improving their average spend and
duration of stay. They are also viewed as destination image producers,
developing a profile for destinations, positioning them in the market,
and delivering a competitive marketing advantage. The consequences of
events can have a significant impact on local citizens' quality of life.
As a result, it has been suggested that while analyzing the economic impact
of each unique event, efforts to control the social and environmental
impacts of festivals be used. Festivals have aided the growth of cultural
tourism by attracting culture tourists to local community activities and
promoting cultural exchanges between visitors and locals. Cultural
tourism provides benefits to host cities, although these benefits have
not been thoroughly examined.
For me personally the event indeed promotes the preservation and
commemoration of what is the root of all in Pacific. It is a good event
because it boots the economy and also boosts the knowledge of people about
the culture and tradition of the Pacific.
