Arts & Sciences In accordance with Policies 119 and 1208, the Arts & Sciences Department has specific consequences for missed tests and late
Assessment assignment submissions.
Practices:
Missed Tests
Students are required to be present for all tests. If a student has an excusable reason for an absence, the student is required to
communicate with their instructor prior to test-time. If the reason is deemed excusable by the instructor, then the test may be deferred
to a later time or the weight of the test may be reallocated to the final exam. If the reason is deemed inexcusable by the instructor, then
the student will be given a grade of zero on the test.
Students are required to submit assignments to their instructor on assignment due-dates. If a student has an excusable reason for a
late submission, the student is required to communicate with their instructor prior to the assignment due-date. If the reason is deemed
excusable by the instructor, then the due-date may be extended. If the reason is deemed inexcusable, then the student will be
deducted 10% off the grade for each calendar day late to a maximum deduction of 50%.
If a student does not complete an assignment, then the student may receive an incomplete grade for the course until the assignment is
submitted and graded.
Student • Attend classes regularly, pay attention, and take good notes.
Expectations: • Arrive on time for class and be prepared (bring textbook and other resources). Be prepared to participate in group and class
learning activities. Get involved, ask questions, seek help when needed, and enjoy the learning process.
• Complete all required reading and homework exercises (and submit material in PDF format, with your name in the file and the
document).
• Be responsible and respectful in using phones, laptops, etc. in class. I recommend placing phones on silent and out of sight once
you are in the classroom. If you need to use your device to communicate, please quietly exit the classroom. You may need to
remain outside until the class ends.
• All assessments are subject to plagiarism/cheating policies as described in Policy 1211.
