ABSTRACT
This descriptive research was conducted to study and analyze the level of knowledge on
first aid application among barangay households of Boi, Boac, Marinduque. The
respondents of this study were 103 individuals. A validated adaptive questionnaire based
on the research of Martinez (2019) was used and was divided into two (2) parts namely,
demographic profile and assessment of knowledge on first aid application such as wound
dressing, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), choking, fracture, food poisoning, heart
attack, and animal bites. The data gathered were analyzed using frequency and
percentage. Based on the results of the study, majority of the respondents belong to
middle age adults, females, and were elementary graduates. It was concluded that the
respondents are knowledgeable when it comes on wound dressing. However, the majority
of respondents lack knowledge on CPR, choking, fracture, food poisoning, heart attack,
and animal bites. Based on the findings and conclusion, the researchers recommend the
following: 1. To increase awareness and knowledge of first aid application, every
member of the community needs to be encouraged to participate in every first aid
seminar; 2. The officials of the Municipality of Boac, Marinduque, need to include
budgetary allocation for equipment of first aid and basic life support; 3. The Institute of
Allied Health Sciences may conduct a seminar on first aid application to empower the
residents and the Barangay Officials; and 4. To coordinate with Red Cross, Provincial
Hospital, or National Risk Reduction Unit, for regular Basic First Aid and Basic Life
Support training and certification.
