Here is Vien Jellah Linga for the updates

VIEN: First, ambrosia began the declaration by saying, “the people of this country are already
tired of bearing the ominous yoke of Spanish domination”. This line alone already speaks
volumes about what it was like during the Spanish occupation.

Second, the document reveals the kind of government which Emilio Aguinaldo initiated in the
country at that time, which was a dictatorship.

Third, the document reveals the true meaning of our national flag, its colors, and its symbols.

Lastly, upon re-examining the document, we realized that there are certain truths that were
overlooked in the document.

Renniel: Contribution of the Act of Proclamation of Independence of the Filipino People

was controversial

Here is Christel Ona for the details.

CHRISTEL: This Act of Proclamation of the Independence of the Filipino people as the
primary source to remind us, Filipinos to cherish our nation and have a strong sense of
patriotism. What we are now and what we have today are simply the outcomes of a wholehearted
and hard-fought deed to attain so-called freedom. And so, it is now in the hands of today’s
generation whether to continue and flourish what the people in our past, or, let's say, heroes of
the past, did and enjoy the legacy that they have instilled in each and every single one of us or
not. The freedom of the whole Philippines is the cause while those who sacrificed their lives to
attain that freedom are the effect or consequence. After decades of being under other countries’
colonization, the Philippines finally achieved freedom that up until experienced.

Christel Ona, reporting

Renniel: Thank you, Christel

Regine: Relevance of the proclamation to the present generation was confirmed

Here is Kc Martos for full features

KC : As we celebrate every important occasion every year, we Filipinos should never forget to
celebrate the most treasured milestone we achieved in our history, which is the declaration of the
Philippines’ independence. In this modern generation, every Filipino citizen, especially those
youth, has the freedom to live their lives without suffering from the colonization of other
countries. The biggest credit should always be given to our heroes, whose tears, blood, and
sacrifices were led in order to break the chain around the Philippines that was tied by Spain.
