1.1 Overview
Introduction

In some crane or hoisting gear applications, raising and lowering is controlled using
a crane master switch/joystick or two buttons. Whereby, the velocity can be
adjusted using a potentiometer, and when required, a low speed can be set in the
manual or setting-up modes.
For these applications, starting as well as traversing in both directions is specified,
and this will be described in the following example using a SINAMICS G120 with
BICO interconnection.

under all circumstances!

If a bipolar setpoint is used via an analog input, here in the example -10V to +10V,
then it is absolutely imperative that the enable signal is inhibited and the holding
brake is activated when the setpoint input is incorrect.

In order to be able to directly control the hoisting gear from the master switch, the
analog input must be interlocked when a negative setpoint is entered into the drive.
If the request "raise" is pressed at the master switch, then using the setpoint

controller, the operator can directly change the velocity of the hoisting gear.
However, if the setpoint controller is in the opposite direction, then the hoisting gear
would, for example, move downwards.
In the application example, the position of the setpoint controller is checked. If the
incorrect direction has been selected, the setpoint is inhibited and the holding
brake is not opened, in spite of the ON command. Only after the setpoint controller
has been brought into the correct position is the holding brake opened after the
specified value and the hoisting gear can be raised without resulting in any load
sag.

1.2.1 Functions

The master switch has the following functions:

Signal for “RAISE“
Signal for “LOWER“
Signal for “RAPID TRAVERSE“
Signal for “CRAWL”
Bipolar analog setpoint (-10V to +10V)

In the example, using just one digital input, both pre-limit switches are interrogated
independent of the direction. The pre-limit switches can be used both in the
automatic as well as in the manual modes.

1.2.2 Interconnecting the blocks (with BICO)

Using this function, a frequency of 0Hz is output, if e.g. DI0 (raise) is selected, and the analog setpoint is in the negative direction.

In order to prevent the drive rotating in the opposite direction, p2900 and p2901 establish the dead range of the analog input (if a "zero" is
entered here, then it is possible that the hoisting gear briefly moves in the opposite direction, because a processing time has to be taken
into account for the blocks).

Enabling the on/off command

The on/off command is only enabled, if raising or lowering is selected. Switch-on is prevented when raising and lowering are
simultaneously pressed.

Controlling the holding brake

The control function described in the following allows the holding brake to be closed when pressing the “UP button” and setpoint in the
opposite direction.

The frequency is set in P2155[0,1], where the brake is opened or closed (if an ON command is present, the brake would otherwise be
continuously open).

The "crawl frequency" can be set in P1001[0], the "rapid traverse frequency" can be set in P1002[0].

Reversing
Reversing is required, in order to generate the correct setpoint for rapid traverse/crawl so that the fixed frequencies are unsigned.
