What is drug addiction?


Drug addiction, also called substance use disorder, is a
disease that affects a person's brain and behavior and
leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal
drug or medicine. Substances such as alcohol, marijuana
and nicotine also are considered drugs. When you're
addicted, you may continue using the drug despite the
harm it causes.

We are going to discuss the following:

2. The disadvantages of consuming drugs
3. The ways by which drugs are consumed

MATERIALS NEEDED
METHOD
1. Inhalation: Inhalation is a common method of drug abuse
for drugs that can be inhaled as a powder, such as cocaine
or heroin. The drug is typically heated and the vapor is
inhaled through the nose or mouth.
2. Injection: Injection is a method of drug abuse that involves
injecting drugs directly into the bloodstream using a
needle and syringe. This method is commonly used for
drugs such as heroin or cocaine.
3. Smoking: Smoking is a method of drug abuse that
involves inhaling the smoke from burning drugs. Drugs
that can be smoked include marijuana, crack cocaine, and
methamphetamine.
4. Oral ingestion: Oral ingestion involves swallowing drugs
in pill, capsule, or liquid form. This method is commonly
used for prescription drugs, such as painkillers, as well as
illicit drugs, such as ecstasy or LSD.
5. Transdermal: Transdermal drug abuse involves applying
drugs to the skin in the form of patches, gels, or creams.
This method is commonly used for prescription drugs,
such as fentanyl.

2. Create awareness about the side effects and the
consequences of the addiction.
3. Treatment of the people who are already addicted.
4. Provide moral support and counselling.
5. Avoid any kind of temptations and peer pressure.
