your past lesson. We will
previous play a game entitled, "
lesson Guess My Name!"
In this game, you will just
guess the word or words
being discuss or describe by
the given statement.
If you want to answer just
raise your hand.
Are you ready? Yes Ma'am!

B. Presenting Before we proceed to our

examples/ lesson today, I want you to
instances for the know the objectives of this
new lesson lesson.
At the end of the lesson,
you, students will be able to:
a. define climate
change, and
b. discuss the causes of
climate change.
Now, let us observe the
picture and spot the
difference.

Let's divide the class into

two. We have Group 1 for
situation A and Group B for
Situation B. Imagine that you
are in the given situation. I
will give you pieces of paper
that contains words or
phrases that describe or
define the situation you
belong. Then, you will paste
it on the board.

Let's start! ( The students will do the activity.)

Based from the activity our

topic for today is about
climate change. From the
given picture or situation,
what is your idea about
climate change? Anyone?
Ma'am,the change in environment.
Very good, thank you for
sharing your idea.

So that's our topic for today.

Let's proceed and learn
more about climate change.
EXPLORE (10 minutes)
What is climate change?
C. Discussing Kindly read ______. Climate Change
new concepts It refers to the long term change
and practicing in the global weather patterns.
new skills # 1 Climate change is one of the
most current worldwide
issues. Some experts say
that it is true that the Earth
does go through a period of
cooling and a period of
warming.
Do you notice our climate
nowadays?
Do you even notice that the
climate today is warmer than
the climate in the past
years?
(All) Yes Ma'am!
Indeed, it is. Yes Ma'am, even at night it is
warmer.
Since climate change refers
to the change in average
weather of a given area or
region, it may lead also to
the significant change in
rainfall, temperature, and
wind patterns and other
measure of climates that
occur several decades or
longer.
Furthermore, it is a natural
phenomena and has been
occurring since the Earth
came into being. However,
what we are experiencing
right now can be enhance
rapidly through other factors
like human activities.
Whether the cause is man-
made or not, climate change
is a change in the
environment.
Did you get it? Yes Ma'am!
EXPLAIN (15 minutes)

D.Discussing new For you to understand the

concepts and causes of climate change,
practicing new let us study this concept
skills # 2 map.

Have you ever heard about

greenhouse effect? Yes Ma'am.
Okay!
What is greenhouse effect?
Kindly read ______.
Greenhouse effect is the process
by which radiation from the sun is
trap (and re-radiated as heat) by
greenhouse gases and not
reflected into space
Solar radiation warms the
Earth as its energy is
absorbed by the
atmosphere. In the
atmosphere, there are
greenhouse gases present.

 Carbon dioxide
 Methane
 Nitrous oxide
 Chlorofluorocarbons
(CFCs)
And what is the role of
greenhouse gases?
Greenhouse gases trap or
absorb the heat in our
atmosphere, and these
gases are responsible for the
existence of life on
Earth,without these gases
Earth will be at freezing point
and life will be impossible.

However, if the
concentration of these gases
in the atmosphere will be
beyond the normal this will
lead to a phenomenon
known as enhanced
greenhouse effect. More
greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere means that the
equilibrium temperature will
be higher as these gases
absorb more heat. This will
result in the increase of
global temperature known
as global warming.

Please all read. (All students will read the

statement flash in the screen.)
Global warming is an increase
in the temperature of Earth's
atmosphere.
Do you understand? Yes ma’am.
Do you have any questions? Nothing ma’am.

Now, let us to talk about the

causes of global warming or
enhanced greenhouse effect.

First. Burning of fossil fuels

What do we mean by fossil

fuels or what are the
examples of fossil fuels you
see in the picture?
Examples are coal, oil,
gasoline,and natural gases
Ma'am.

That's correct!
Therefore, these fossil fuels
are used as an energy
source.
Burning them to generate
e____. (all) energy.

When fossil fuels are burned,

they released large amount of
CO2, a greenhouse gas.
What would be the outcome if
there is too much CO2 in the
atmosphere? Anyone?
There would be an increase of
global temperature.
Second. Intensive farming
to produce crops and
livestock raising.

Why do you think it

contributes to global
warming?
What do farmers usually use? Farmers usually use fertilizers and
pesticides.
Yes, that's right!
Producing more food out of
the land that is already use
for agriculture often requires
heavier use of nitrogen base
fertilizer which in turn release
nitrous oxide emissions.
Third. Deforestation
I think you are already familiar
with deforestation and you
heard it many times, right?
So, what do we mean by Yes Ma'am!
deforestation?
Anyone? The loss of trees ma'am.

Indeed, that's correct!

The loss of trees and other
vegetation.
What do you think will happen
if we cut down trees? Ma'am, there will be flood.

Why? Ma'am, because there are no

trees to hold the water.
Yes, exactly!

And, deforestation increases

Earth’s temperature.

Lastly. Other human

activities.

Some human activities may

lead to the increase of
greenhouse gases.

Can you give other human Ma'am, using cars as a means of

activities that may lead to the transportation. It causes pollution.
increase of greenhouse
gases?

Nice idea. It is indeed correct!

Others are over consumption

and destruction of the reefs.

These are mainly the causes

of global warming. If we
cannot control or minimize
these, it may lead to climate
change.

Did you get it class? Yes Ma'am.

ELABORATE (10 minutes)

E. Finding Now, please do this simple

practical activity entitled, “Am I a
applications of Climate Hero or a Climate
concepts and Culprit?”
skills in daily
living This activity allows you to
evaluate your carbon emission.
How’s your score?

20-50- You’re a Green Queen/

King and a globally aware
consumer! Keep up the good
work
50-80- You’ve made a start but
there are more you can do to
reduce your ecological
footprint.
80-110- You still have a long
way to go; it is best to start
now.

F. Making So, based on the discussion

generalizations what is climate change again?

lesson How about its causes?

Ma’am, it is mainly cause by

What is global warming then? global warming.

Global warming is the increase in

And, what is the cause of global the temperature of Earth's
warming? atmosphere.

It’s because of burning of fossil

fuels, intensive farming,
deforestation, and other human
activities.

EVALUATE (5 minutes)
G.Evaluating Now, let us try to answer these
following statements.
learning
1. Global warming causes TRUE
climate change. TRUE or
FALSE
2. Greenhouse gases refers to FALSE
