Lesson title: Korean War

Amount of time needed: One class periods

Description: - 8.1.2 Foreign Policy During the Cold War – compare


the causes and consequences of the American policy of
containment including:
- the direct and/or armed conflicts with Communism (for
example, but not limited to: Berlin, Korea, Cuba).
Objectives: At the end of this lesson, The students will understand that
this was the first major proxy war that resulted in
thousands of lives being affected in the name of containing
communism.

Prerequisite skills: Students will need a basic understanding of world


geography and communism.
Materials needed: Pen/Pencil, notes, and Korean Map activity

Teacher preparation: The teacher will begin each class with the daily bell ringer.
After the bell ringer the teacher would start the lecture.
They need their Korean maps at the end.

Instructional sequence: 1. Begin class by asking the students to answer the daily
bell ringer
2. Ask for some of the students answer to the bell ringer
3. Begin the lecture
4. Finish with the exit ticket
Assessment: Students will haft to answer an exit ticket at the end of the
class, and I will go around looking at their answers to see
what they took away from today’s lecture.
