CHAPTER I EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION:
The developement of a healthier banana waffle is being looked into by
the researchers. The Banaffles hope to pique customers’ interest in this
established brand perception. The researchers would like to introduce a
variety of dips or syrups and toppings that consumers would be interested
in purchasing. Making the product aesthetically appealing and easy to
understand is one of the most vital marketing factors and think about if the
product is similar to or different from the product made by competition.
This is where the Banaffles enter the picture.
Nowadays, people would choose an artificially made food product that
has a less healthy nutritional content over the conventional foods that are
said to be “good for our health”. Promoting a healthy and convenient way
of eating by introducting Banaffles to the general public would also be
beneficial. Banaffles are made of pure banana and are visually appealing,
which draws the attention of potential customers who are interested in
healthy and pure fruit-made food. It is simple to create this product if the
consumer likes it and becomes interested in it, Furthermore, this product is
very affordable and available in a variety of syrups and toppings, making it
an excellent choice for customers.
In general, Banaffles is one of the best business ideas for people
looking for a unique and pure fruit food. Not only is it simple to make and
understand, but it is also very reasonably priced and healthy for people.
This is a good option for those looking to start a business with this product.

A.Name of the Business: BANAFFLES
The terms “banana” and “waffles” were combined to create the
business name “banaffles”, which is catchy, distinctive, and easily
recognizable. Bananas and waffles are the two primary ingredients of
the business that will specialize in making banana-based waffles with a
variety of syrups and toppings. The business aims to suppy the
residents of the Barangay of Malanday, Valenzuela City.

B. Title of the Study


A feasibility study on establishing the Filipino breakfast-meryenda stall
of banaffles in Barangay Malanday Valenzuela City.

Banaffles is located at 26 J. Santiago St. Libo, Malanday Valenzuela


City. It is near at Annfred Machine Shop and TJ Store. The location is set
on a garage with a square meter of 75. This will be the production area
and the stall area of the business.
D. Description of the Logo

The logo is a representation of the product, which is a banana and a


waffle. So there are characteristics or standards in the construction of the
logo before it was made. So the most important characteistics are how
recognizable, colorful, simple, and distinctive the logo is. This theme is also
appealing to people because the target market is students or children.
Banaffles ar derived from the products bananas and waffles. It has a tagline
that says “have a forkful of waffle”, which means to eat waffles with a fork and
keep drooling over waffles. It will serve as the company’s official logo.

E. Brief Description of the Project


The world has already been fed by waffles, a traditional yet-
well know dish that has undergone numerous changes. In ourgrup, this
snack will be laid with a little twist from its original concept and will be
known as the “Banaffles”.
To create this product, all one must have is an overripe banana, eggs,
cinnamon that could be optional, and syrups or toppings like strawberry
syrup, honey syrup, chocolate syrup, and peanut butter. Toppings includes
banana slices, sprinkles, cookie crumbs, chocolate chips and
marshmallows, this is because of the reason that our group wishes for this
product to be more child-friendly. Banaffles are crisp on the edges but a
little fluffy in the middles, with good flavor, and doused in any type of
syrup. For customers to enjoy their delicacy, the mentioned product, which
is banaffle, is to put in a cup or closed container with the syrups
separated.
The selected product, the Banaffles, which is the local ingredients are
abundant with a reasonable price, will help the local farmers who produce
bananas and would somehow improve their economic situation. Also, this
product gives kids a wholesome choice that fits within their spending
limits.

F. General Objectives of the Project


a. To create a healthy alternative snacks.
b. To promote healthy go-to snacks.
c. To provide jobs in the locality.
d. To promote Filipino’s creativity in making healthy snacks.

G. Research and Methodology


This chapter looks at various different techniques in gathering
data or information which can be relevant to the study. It will emphasize
the method that is used in selecting participants or sources and the tools,
materials and procedure that is used to gather data. Conducting the
proposed project is desired to be important in the study. Incorporating the
feasibility study, it is also importan to evaluate and explaine the particular
method that is used in collecting data, so that the research is
ackownledged as relevant.

G.1 Survey
Historically, large-scaled population-based data gathering has
been a component of survey research. The primary purpose of this type of
survey research was to obtain information describing characteristics of a large
sample of individuals of interest relatively quickly. It is crucial to use surveys
in a feasibility study to determine your marketability. Surveys are by far the
finest approach for our organization to reach out beyond the target market
and learn as much as we can about the individuals we hope will be
purchasing for our goods or services. In hopes of learning more about
Banaffles, the proponents will carried out a survey involving 392 respondents
in the neighborhood of Malanday Valenzuela City. These 392 respondents
were drawn from the 19,060 total population in Barangay Malanday,
Valenzuela City.

number of respondents.

G.3. Sampling Techniques


In order o assess the reliability of the survey results from the
respondents and to select the most easiest or convenient respondents for
the study’s survey, the sampling technique is essential for this study. To
acquire information from the target customers or clients, the proponents
employed convenience sampling. The importance of Banaffles in Barangay
Malanday, Valenzuela City is further recognized throught surveys and
interviews.

G.4. Survey Questionnaire


The proponents’ research instrument, which consists of a series
of questions to gather data from the respondents, is a questionnaire. The
proponents used the survey as a research tool to get information from a
pre-selected sample of respondents in order to discover more about the
product. To find out what the customers in the Barangay Malanday,
Valenzuela City area thought of the Banaffles, the proponents constructed
a survey questionnaire. The merchandise that will be on the marketplace
and in manufacturing were used in these questionnaires.
G.5. Interview

In an interview, it is possible to assess what the business is


lacking and to provide answers to questions about the business in
addition to the data provided by the survey questionnaires. The interviews
are very important in evaluating the product as well as the opportunities
and in ensuring its success. From the interview conducted, the
proponents have gathered information that can help the business move
forward in the market. The result of the interview helps in understanding
the business in order to improve the product, develop marketing strategy,
and to assume how the business will make its way and grow in the
market.

G.6. Research

The relevance of research is to determine the project's market and


financial challenges. The information for data gathering came from the
research, research articles, business articles, and respondent’s
responses in order the proponents pursue the business.

Located in the Philippine city of Valenzuela, Malanday is a small
administrative division and one of the city’s constituent barangay.
The Bulacan province’s Meycauayan bordring the northern part of the
city is where it is located. The phrase of “a bowl of plate” is considered to
have influenced the word “Malanday”2 in the Filipino language.
With the total size of 295.60 square kilometers and a population of
19,060, Barangay Malanday is one of the Valenzuela City and makes up
2.67% of the city’s overall population and is made up of five sitios namely:
Hulo, Libo that is divided into Libo I and Libo II, Lingahan and Umboy.

G.8. Search of Internet, Books and Libraries


The proponents used the research respondents, online articles
and studies about the product to gather information for the business and
conduct the study.
In the Philippines, Banana is the source of the local and
international revenues for farmers and an important component of the
daily diet of all Filipinos. Banana is important for every Filipino. It is easily
found in every market in the municipality of the Philippines. Davao region
and the Northern Mindanao are the top producers of banana. Whereas,
most of the market will sell the fresh and best banana that can provide
product I producingthe sustainable raw material for the banana waffle
product.
Waffle is known for the Filipino’s snack and also a breakfast to
provide a meal to a starve stomach. Waffle is fancy than pancake, while
pancake is muchsoft and fluffy. Waffle is more crunchy and taste better.
The ingredients of waffle can also be found in the municipality market to
compete in local market, Banaffles will provide the banana waffle that is
unique and tasty to the customer, reseller, and business partners.
Banaffles is open for every opportunity it will encounter.

H. Project Summary
In-depth information or statistics on the proposed business or business
concept is provided in the project summary. Additionally, it provides a
summary of the feasiblity study’s marketing, technical, management, and
financial summary. A project summary is typically shown at the very start
of a report on a feasibility study and provides a concise summary of the
research’s key components.
H.1. Market Summary
This business’ market projection is based on surveys and
information gathered in the area of Barangay Malanday in the city of
Valenzuela. A snack will be promoted by the Filipino breakfast-meryenda
stall. This product is feasible because the target respondents are willing and
able to purchase our sweet and small bite banana waffle. The target
consumer will be range in age of students, and young adults. As a result, to
provide a better feature for the consumer, it is decided to improve the
product bu adding different types of dips or syrups and toppings. The
researchers are considering the competition based on the current price and
the product approach’s innovation. Based on culinary food and dessert,
waffle is wel-known among children and young adults, it is a small bite
snack or a snack that can be eating with or without a sauce or cream.

H.2. Technical Summary


Banaffles serves tasty and nutritious banana waffles at barangay
Libo, Malanday, Valenzuela City. They can distribute the goods both inside
and outside of the barangay Malanday, Valenzuela City area and are also
open to retailers, small and medium business promotion, endorsers, and
advertisements.

H.3. Management Summary

The Banaffles’ founders will be in charge of the management and


managerial positions necessary to conduct the company’s daily operations.
The manufacture of the banana waffles will be overseen and handled by
other proponents.

H.4. Financial Summary


The Banaffles’ initial investment o 150,00 Pesos will be used for
equipment and supplies. This inludes a waffle maker, mixing bowls, utenils,
ingredients such as flour, sugar, eggs, bananas and other supplies such as
packaging and marketing materials. Assuming an estimated cost of 50
thousand for equipment and supplies, this leaves 100 thousand in available
capital. In operating expenses, these are the ongoing expeses associated
with running the business such as utilities, insurance and wages. Assuming
a monthly operating cost of 20 thousand, this means that the available
capital would cover approximately 5 months of operating expenses.
I. Operational Terms
Banana waffles are made of overripe banan; In order to make it as a
waffle mixture, we will need to add egg(s), flour, sugar or cinnamon powder.
In addition, we will need butter or margarine to use in our waffle maker.

 Cooking procedure of banana waffle - rip the banana and put it on the
blender/slicer then we will add the egg(s), flour, and sugar. Mix it until
we have a smooth puree consistency.
 Packaging- the process of assembling the product the a rectangular
plastic or paper container with the syrup separated in a small plastic
dip container.
 Preservation- the bananas will be sliced a day before it will be sold.
Then the batter will be made on the same day 2 or 3 hourse before the
selling time.
I. Scope and Limitation
A feasibility sudy on establishing the Filipino breakfast-meryenda stall of
banaffles in barangay Libo, Malanday, Valenzuela City. It will be focused on
banana waffles, as a light and healthy breakfast and snacks.
The primary respondents f the feasibility study are the residents of
barangay Libo in Malanday, Valenzuela City. They are important people in
order to conduct and establish the studies for banana waffles products.
The location of Banaffles stall is a well thought out location where there
are a lot of kids and students that are always looking for a good snacks
during the late afternoon. Also, the location of Banaffles stall is in a garage
which can provide a calm and peaceful ambience and provide a feeling that
is close to home.
