Mass source

DL ,Masonary load , & 25% of live load

Model cases
Model case Sub Type- Eigen

Use Present P-delta Settings – Nontentative based on mass

Maximum number of modes -12

Minimum number of modes -1

Response Function
Add a new function

Model case repose can be combined by three methods.

Absolute sum method ( Peak response are summed up , but peak response will be accruing at
different time period )

Square root of sum of squares ( frequencies are very closed hence does not give correct result)

Complete Quadratic Combination ( CQC) ( Gives correct response ,hence this is adopted )
Scale Factor = (I.g)/R
Change the scale factor as calculated

Select the modal load case

Modal Load combination method = CQC

Directional Combination Type- CQC3

Modal Damping = 0.05 ( Constant daping for all modes)

Run the analysis and check the modes provided are sufficient as per ASCE-07 it should be 90 %
We have to check the

Go to Display , select show table

Select Modal Participation Mass Ratio

The sum of UX & Uy should be more that 90% , if not we have to increase the Modes and re run the
alalysis

Next step is to check the base shear

Response spectrum base shear should be 85% of the base shear by the static Ex Ey case

Since the response spectrum base shear is less than the EX EY , we will do the Re scaling as per the
formulae

For a Regular structures Five stories or less with a period T of 0.5 sec or less

Cs may be calculated using Ss=1.5

Ss= Maximum considered Earthquake (MCE R)

Spectrum Response Acceleration parameter at short period

S1= Maximum considered E.Q (MCER) Spectral Response acceleration parameter at t=1.0 sec
