(November 7, 1926 – 10 October 2010)
s it really 10 years? What an amazing voice! Velvet with a steel top and absolutely best
coloratura! When she sang with Pavarotti it was classical heaven! What she did to help
Pavarotti with his technique helped to set him apart from other singers into a class of his
own. She is truly missed!

As an example aged over sixty she could without much ado make you believe she was 19 in Daughter
of the Regiment

“Rusalka” is a beautiful opera! It should have been recorded more frequently over the years. Having
said that, the recordings with Gabriela Benackova and Renee Fleming in the title role are both
excellent! I just wish that Lucia Popp had recorded more ...
