TASK 1: GUESS ME QUICKLY!
- Teacher will appoint a pair of learners to go in front.
- One of the pair will put a piece of paper on his/her forehead and will be
the one who will going to guess as what the other one acts.

2. Procedures
a. Activity
TASK 2: ACT IT OUT!
- This time, one learner will choose a piece of paper and act as what’s
being written.
- The rest of the learners will guess what the chosen learner is going to
act.

b. Analysis
1. What have you noticed about our activity?
2. Aside from guessing, what are the other similarities our activity today has?

c. Abstraction
GERUND is defined as a word ending in -ing formed from a verb and that function as
a noun.

Functions of Gerund:
 Subject - it is a word or a phrase or a clause of a sentence about which
something is stated or asked in the predicate.
Examples:
1. Exercising is good for our health.
2. Playing badminton is my hobby.
 Subject Complement - it describes or identifies the subject.
- it is after the linking verb.
Examples:
1. Lyra's favorite exercise is jogging.
2. His favorite activity is reading.
 Direct Object - it receives the direct action of the verb.
- it answers the question, “what” or “whom”.
Examples:
1. Lester does boxing in the gym twice a week.
2. They do singing everyday in the classroom.

d. Application
TASK 3: LET THEM KNOW!
- The Teacher will write a minimum of three (3) sentences on the board and select
learners randomly/ to go in front, and let them identify the Gerund and its function in each
of the sentences.

IV. EVALUATION
TASK 4: LET US IDENTIFY!
DIRECTION: Underline the Gerund and identify its function in each sentence.
Write (S) if it is a Subject, (SC) if it is a Subject Complement, and (DO) if it is a Direct Object.
