Room Cleaning and Maintenance
Procedures

Cleaning-the activity of removing the dirt from


things and places, especially in a house or lodging
establishment.

Maintenance-the process of maintaining or


preserving someone or something, or the state of
being maintained.
CONDUCTING A ROOM
CHECK
PURPOSE OF CHECKING:
•If the room is still occupied.
•If the beds in the guestrooms were slept on.
•If there are unregistered joiners who occupied
the room.
•If the guest is out and the room is ready for make
up.
•If the guest has soiled clothes for laundry.
•If the guest is in good condition

1.If the Room is with DND Sign

If the room is with DND sign

If the DO NOT DISTURB sign is on the door of an occupied


room, wait until 3:00 pm, then call the room.
a) if they answer, ask them if they want service
b) if there is no answer, mark the time you called on the
worksheets - and indicate “DND - No Service.”
If the DO NOT DISTURB sign is on the door of a guest
scheduled to check out, wait until 12:00 noon to call the room.
a) if there is no answer, you may enter the room
b) if they do respond, you may politely ask when they are
checking out today - and when you may service the room.
Procedures for Room check
If the room is without a DND sign and there is no
guest inside
a.Knock twice the door and announce
“Housekeeping”
b.If no answer,knock again 3 times and
give space of few seconds between
knocks.If still no answer,open the door
gently and check for room status.
c.Record the actual room status in the
housekeeper report.
d.Submit a copy to the front desk.
Procedures for Room check
If the guest is in his room and No DND sign
•If the guest is in but he/she does not
answer,open the door slowly and apologize for
the disturbance.
•Greet the guest,introduce yourself and tell
him/her your purpose.
•Ask the guest if he/she is ready for room make
up.If not,offer to come back later.
•If the guest appear to be irritated or
disturbed,ask for an apology and tell the guest to
just call if he/she needed an assistance.
