Introduction of study
The urban nature and fundamentals of the existing
Mississauga downtown is being studied. The specific
area covers about 46400 sq.m land space within
downtown Mississauga. The area consists of high-rise,
mid-rise and low-rise buildings which are combined
together as an urban development for mixed uses.
The adjacent context to be included in the study are
within the 250-500m radius of the study area.

The area of study is called the Parkside village.


Parkside village is a vibrant urban mixed-use
development in the heart of Mississauga city center.
With 6400 residential condominium units proposed
and steps from Square One, this development offers
an amazing opportunity for National retailers to
position themselves in this strongly growing
marketplace. It also comprises 60000 sq.ft. of custom
office space. Parkside village is the perfect location to
cultivate corporate environment. It features floor to
ceiling exposure, glass exteriors and full service
janitorial maintenance
Location & Configuration
The area is located at the intersection of confederation
Pkwy and the Burnhamthorpe Rd W. The massing is
staggered horizontally and vertically to ensure
daylighting and reduce the shadow effect. The site
organization is managed so that the high rise do not
create overwhelming presence to users. Both surface
and below grade parking are provided within the area.

The mid-rise buildings are mainly for commercial uses


which consist of retail outlets on the ground floor and
then offices on upper floors. This aligns with the fact
that the area is essentially a business/economic center
of downtown mississauga.

The high rise are apartment buildings for residential


purposes with the ground floor used for retail purposes.

SITE TERRAIN

•Confederation Parkway and Burnhamthorpe Road


West in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada are in an
urban region with comparatively flat topography.
•The roads are paved with walkways on both sides,
making it simple for people to navigate. There are
several high-rise structures in the neighborhood,
and the roadways are well-kept. Green areas, trees,
and water features can be found in neighboring
parks such as Kariya Park and Celebration Square,
offering a respite from the city.
•Overall, the terrain is appropriate for strolling,
cycling, and driving, with no major natural barriers
nearby
SITE FEATURES Some of the design features between Confederation
Parkway and Burnhamthorpe Road West in
Mississauga include:
•High-rise residential buildings with modern and sleek
designs: Many of the high-rise residential buildings in
the region have modern and sleek designs, with an
emphasis on clean lines, minimalism, and the use of
glass and steel.
•Contemporary business structures: Several
commercial buildings in the region have contemporary
designs that combine glass, steel, and other modern
materials.
•Public art works: The region contains a number of
public art installations, such as sculptures and murals,
that display a variety of artistic techniques and
patterns.
•Overall, the architectural design elements in
Mississauga between Confederation Parkway and
Burnhamthorpe Road West represent a contemporary
and modern style, with an emphasis on clean lines,

Living Arts Centre Parking Lot.

Street analysis and circulation

The Mississauga Downtown Core is a bustling


commercial and residential area in the heart of
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The core is roughly
defined by Burnhamthorpe Road to the north,
Hurontario Street to the east, Confederation Parkway to
the west, and the QEW highway to the south.
The area is served by several major roads and
highways, including the QEW, Highway 403, and
Highway 401, which provide easy access to other parts
of the Greater Toronto Area. The core is also
well-served by public transportation, with several MiWay
bus routes passing through the area and a nearby GO
Transit rail station.
Regarding street analysis and circulation, the City of
Mississauga has implemented several initiatives to
improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the
Downtown Core. For example, the city has installed a
