Community centers are important hubs across the country that enable people to socialise, learn and

access key services. Does a community centres really offers many benefits to an area? Some argue
that these centres aren’t seen as desirable places to spend time – but they serve a vital function in
communities across the country.

In the first place the offerings of a community center can range from being an education-forward
building, such as a library, an active fitness space with a weight room and running track, or even a
banquet hall for events and other community gatherings. In my mind community centres provide a
place for a diversity of people to connect with their neighbors, build relationships that contribute to
community resilience and cohesion. Community centres develop a culture of wellbeing across social,
mental and physical health.

Others oppose community centers, claiming they collect extra taxes to support them, which pays for
the wages of the employees and upkeep of the building. Therefore, a community center can be
expensive.

Overall, I firmly believe that community centers provide a region with many benefits in the form of
classes and community groups, as well as employment chances for locals, even though the local
economy must sustain them.
