PREPARATION OF THE TELLING

• Were the beginning and the ending of the story rehearsed?


• Were the sound effects rehearsed?
• Did you hear the storyteller was about to say or do
something and then stopped to catch the learners’ attention?
• Did you see or hear the storyteller work on characterization
through voice change, props, and/or physical position?
• Did you see the storyteller mime what he/she was saying?
• Were there visuals or props?
• Was audience participation planned?
DURING THE TELLING OF THE STORY

• Was the appropriate atmosphere for the telling created?


• Was it announced?
• Did the storyteller use any anchor to begin?
• Did the storyteller make eye-contact with the audience?
• Did you feel the storyteller become a channel for the story to be
told?
• Was the storyteller present to go with the flow of the situation?
• Did the storyteller exploit his/her voice through: volume, pitch,
mood, speed and/or rhythm?
• Did the storyteller elicit production from the students?
AFTER THE TELLING (WITH KIDS)

• Did the storyteller have the kids interact with the


props?
• Did the storyteller put away what she/he had used?
• Did the storyteller Invite kids participation in putting
away?
ATTENTION CATCHERS

• Did you see, hear or feel the storyteller use any of


these attention catchers or others?

• Producing objects from a hidden place.


• Special effects.
• Voice changes.
• Surprise factor.
• Avoid announcing.
