1. Read the following text. Pay attention to the comparative and superlative forms of
adjectives while you’re reading it.

These are the Taylors. They lived in Brownsville

before, but now they live in Newport.

In Newport the streets are cleaner, the parks

are safer, the bus system is better and the
schools are more efficient than in Brownsville,
because the teachers are better. The Taylors
are happier in Newport than in Brownsville.

Brownsville has friendlier people. The people in

Brownsville are nicer, more interesting and
funnier than in Newport.

But Brownsville is more dangerous than Newport, and the neighbourhood in Newport is more
beautiful and better for Linda.

Linda is Mr. and Mrs. Taylor’s daughter. She’s a very nice person. Their neighbours love her. They
say she is the nicest person in the neighbourhood. Mrs. Green, the oldest lady, says that Linda is
the most polite, the smartest and the friendliest girl in the neighbourhood. She also says that
Linda is the prettiest girl she knows.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor are very happy with Linda. In fact, they are the happiest family in the
neighbourhood.

too! And they are really fun! Our planet is in danger and we must help it!
