PKWillard font

1 BACKGROUND

1.1 NEWHAVEN LOGO FONT

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A FREE FONT. IT CANNOT BE SOLD BY ANYONE.

It covers a good portion of New Haven RR resources. Most reporting marks

are mostly done in common Railroad Roman font so not covered here.

New Haven used a horizontally stretched lettering in most cases and while
some were lettered in the “enhanced slab serif” lettering, some others like the
box electrics were done in sans-serif style lettering. Both are contained here.
Numbering is usually in a font similar to Futura lettering but the square
numbers used on the box electrics is also contained in this font.

It seem that the RS3’s were minimally marked and used the standard
Helvetica font for the Cab Numbers.

I personally have no local resources on New Haven vehicles so all lettering is

based on what could be searched for on the Internet.

It is intended that this font is used for making decals or 3D Simulator

textures. It’s not intended as a standard lettering font as it is missing
punctuation and supplemental glyphs.

2 USAGE

2.1 Installation (Windows)

The file is distributed as part of a ZIP file that includes this document as well
as the font itself and other related documentation.

The files need to be UNZIPPED from the distribution file into a temporary
work area, like C:\TEMP. (I’ll assume that you used c:\temp from here on…)

Now you can install the font from the windows CONTROL PANEL. Your
system may be different, but in many cases you would select START 
Settings  Control Panel  FONTS  FILE [pull down]  INSTALL
NEW FONT

From here you would select your new file C:\temp\newhaven.ttf

That’s it, the font is installed.

As with all other TTF fonts on your system, the “newhaven.ttf” file enclosed
within the ZIP file belongs in the FONTS folder of your windows operating
system. This is the only way this file would be useful.

This is a free font but it is copyrighted. It may not be edited, altered, or

manipulated in any way, or used in part or incorporated into any other
commercial graphic material without consulting the author.
