details.

B. DISCUSSION
With so many videos and articles circulated online on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter & others. How do we identify which ones are fake? And which ones is fact?
Give the learner two different placards, one with a ✓ mark and one with X mark that will serve as your answer
on our discussion. They just have to raise the placard with a ✓ mark if the material is showing a correct
information and the X mark if does not. what is Truthfulness? What is Accuracy? Aren’t they just the same?
Before proceeding to the activity, define first what is truthfulness and what is accuracy and cite an example.

https://www.google.com/search?q=no+classes+may+2022+anc+news
Remember that “NOT EVERYTHING WE SEE OR READ ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS TRUE AND ACCURATE”
To determine the truthfulness & accuracy of the materials you viewed, you should identify what is fact and
what is fake. Posts like videos & articles can be easily manipulated.
It is necessary that you check the information provided to you online because FACTUAL INFORMATION IS A
MUST!
Will you please read the definition of False Information or Fake News?
False Information or Fake News are those news stories that are simply false. The sets of information are
fabricated with no verifiable facts, sources or quotes.
Example:

Yes. That is correct. There are no official reports on the possibility of an additional year to the government’s K
to 12 basic education program.

✓or an X?

https://www.google.com/search?q=2022+election+results

Misinformation
- Is a false information that is shared because it is believed to be real. This is a kind of information that is
not yet verified/proven yet people already agree on the information & consider it as true.
Example:

What can you say about eating garlic can cure the Covid 19 disease?
Disinformation
- Disinformation is a false information that is spread even though it is known to be false. This category of
fake news aims to mislead people of truth. There is so called a propaganda or bias point of view to promote a person/a
group of people.
Example:
https://www.google.com/search?q=covid+19+biological+weapon
What can you say about the picture? Show me your answer. Is it ✓or an X?
This is an example of hoax, a disinformation that intends to deceive people by using orchestrated propaganda
against something or someone. In this case the creator/source of this hoax would like to make people blame and hate
China for this pandemic.

What is Disinformation?
Always remember that “FAKE NEWS IS THE REAL VIRUS” Do you agree class?
Why?
That’s great!
Now, let’s try if you really understand our lesson. Let us try another game.
I will group you into two. Each team has their own illustration board and marker. You will write your answer
on your own board with the help of your group mates. I’m going to show you some materials or pictures and you’ll have
to decide if they are TRUE or BLUFF. You must write TRUE or BLUFF, after that you’ll have to explain why you think they
are true or bluff. The group who is going to win will receive a gift, and on the other hand the group who lose the game
will also receive a different gift.
