• Distinguish between and among the patterns of development in

writing across discipline- narration, description, definition,
classification, analysis, comparison and contrast, problem-solution
etc.; and
• Write a composition using any of the wring patterns of development.

PATTERNS OF DEVELOPMENT

Academic writing comes in various forms. The most common form is

the essay form inasmuch as subjective or essay tests form part of quizzes
and examinations, which are graded student activities. The essays are
written according to their respective patterns of development. The patterns
are found below,

GUIDE OR PROBING QUESTIONS FOR EXEMPLIFICATION

PATTERN:
• What are some typical cases or example of it?

While the internet offers so many benefits to man, it also has

its downsides. One of these is phishing which refers to the act of

Earthquakes can be classified into three main types based on the plate
movements, the first type is known as a convergent boundary. Also known as
destructive plate boundary, this type of earthquake happens when two
tectonic plates move toward one another and collide. The second type of
earthquakes is called the divergent boundary. During this type of earthquake,

Immigration contributes to the overall health of the American economy.

Despite recent concerns expressed about illegal and some legal immigration to the
U.S, this country has largely benefited from the skills, talents and ambitions that
immigrants bring with them. American businesses gain from a good source of
affordable labor while towns and cities are revitalized by immigrant families who
strengthen communities through civic participation and to generate new economic
activity. The U.S must continue to welcome new arrivals and help those who are
already here; otherwise the country will lose the advantages it has over other
industrialized countries that complete against us in the global market place and
seek countries that complete against us in the global marketplace and seek to
recruit from a vast pool of unskilled and skilled global workers.
