A. Objective: After this activity, students should be able;


 To list and explain the meanings of mixtures
 To identify the two different types of mixtures
 To recognize the examples of these two mixtures
 To describe the examples of Homogeneous or Heterogeneous

B. Materials needed: Phrases written on paper that is strewn throughout the classroom, Paper,
Pencil, Water, Oil, Sand, Sugar.

C. Title of the Activity:

In this activity i have hidden 10 phrases around our classroom for you to find and write on the
board in order to demonstrate your scavenger hunter skills. Give me your name after you find one
paper that contains a question, because each paper has a point that I will add to your grades in
assessment.

If you think you're done finding all of the papers, sit on your chairs and raise your hand so that i
will know that i can start the topic i want to discuss because these papers you will find have the
meaning of the topics that we will discuss.

However, before anything else begins, I have an experiment to show you. You should carefully
examine it and comprehend what is happening in what I am about to do. If I ask you some
questions you can raise your hands and answer it, After the ice breaker we will now go to our
hunting.
c.1. Preliminary Activity ( THE ICEBREAKER: Mixtures Collide!)
(This is an example of the experiment that I will do infront of the class)

1. What do you think happen in the sand with water? Also the Oil and Water?

2. What do you think happen in Water and Sugar? Why the sugar collided with the
Water?
c.2. On-going Activity (THE TOPIC: Finding the meaning!)

(Here they will all find a paper around the classroom, Each paper contains different
explanation about MIXTURES, here is it.)

1. A mixture is a collection of different materials


2. A substance made by mixing other substances together.
3. These materials were made up of two or more different substances which are physically
combined
4. The two types of mixtures are Heterogeneous and Homogeneous
5. Homogeneous mixture is a mixture where the combined components are uniformly
distributed throughout the mixture in a single phase.
6. Heterogeneous mixture is when the combined components are not uniformly distributed
or contain more than one state of matter.
7. Coffee is an example of Homogeneous because it has water, sugar, milk, coffee powder
and they’re distributed properly.
8. A sandwich is an example of Heterogeneous because it has a ham, bread, cheese,
vegetables, and you can determine the substances in it.
9. Homogeneous means the same
10. Heterogeneous means Different

( Students will know bring out their paper and pencil so that they can answer the
questions for our assessment.)

1.1. Instructions: Write HT if the mixture is Heterogeneous, and write HM if the


mixture is Homogeneous

5. Ice in a Soda
1.2. Instructions: Write TRUE if the phrases are correct, Write FALSE if not.
