c. Establishing purpose for the lesson

 Today, we are going to learn about measuring perimeter

using non -standard tools.
 Are you ready to learn in our new lesson?

d. presentation of samples ( pag-uugnay ng mga

halimbawa sa bagong aralin)
                     (The teacher Present a magic box (inside the box
are real objects). Ask some pupils to pick
so me obj ects and le t the m de scribe each like hand kerchie f,
notebo ok,bondpaper, cones, empty box of chocolates)

Sharing of the following objects inside the magic box and let the pupils
describe their shapes.
1.Handkerchief(square)
2.Notebook(rectangle)
3.Bondpaper(rectangle)
4.Cone(triangle)
5.empty box of peanut kisses(trapezoid)
B. Development  0. Discussion
(Pagpapaunlad)

What is perimeter?

The word perimeter has been derived from the Greek word peri meaning
around and metron which means measure.

Perimeter is the total length of the sides of a shapes.

Lets get the perimeter of this triangle

P=s+s+s
=6+6+6
=18cm
Or
P=a+b+c
=6+6+6
=18cm

P=s+s+s+s
=12+12+12+12
=48cm
Or
P=SX4
=12X4
=48CM

P=L+L++W+W
=10+10+6+6
=32Cm
Or
P=(2XL)+(2XW)
=(2X10)+(2X6)
=20+12
=32Cm

P=a+b+c+d
=5+8+12+8
=33cm

P=2a+2b
=2(4)+2(15)
=8+30
=38cm
Or
P=a+a+b+b
=4+4+15+15
=38cm
The teacher shows the ruler to the pupils and asks some pupils to
measure the side of the objects shown

1.Handkerchief(square)
2.Notebook(rectangle)
3.Bondpaper(rectangle)
4.Cone(triangle)
5.empty box of peanut kisses(trapezoid)

The teacher discusses the concept of measuring the perimeter using

the ruler. Sh e g i ve s emp h a si s usi n g th e a pp ro p ri a te too l o r

C.Engagement  Let us try this!
(Pakikipagpalihan)
GROUP ACTIVITY:

Measure the following objects using the ruler in centimetre. Give

their perimeter.
Group 1

D.Assimilation a. Application:
(Paglalapat)
b. Generalization:

          What do we have learned today?
How do we get the total perimeter?

Remember:

 The perimeter of a closed figure in the distance around the figure.

and abstractions about
 To find the perimeter of a polygon get the sum of the length or
measurements of its side
