I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of the concept of time,
perimeter, area, and volume.

B. Performance The learner is able to apply the concept of time, perimeter, area,
Standard and volume
to mathematical problems and real- life situations

C. Most Essential Learning Competency: Measure the perimeter of any given figure
Learning Competencies using appropriate tools. (M4ME-IIIh-49)
(MELC)
D. Enabling 1. Identify what is perimeter.
Competencies 2. Answers the perimeter of the object

IV. PROCEDURE
I. Introduction of the new lesson
A. Introduction a. Motivation:

(Teacher will play video song entitle “Perimeter
Song:

b. Review
What is GCF?
Greatest Common factor
Largest factor that two or more numbers have in common.
What are the steps in finding GCF using continuous division?
1. Write the given numbers horizontally and determine a
common factor that will divide all the numbers.
2. Write each common prime factor at the left side of the
horizontal line and write the quotients below the
numbers.Repeat the process until there is no common
divisor.
3. Multiply all the prime, which is the GCF.

c. Establishing purpose for the lesson

 Today, we are going to learn about Measure the

perimeter of any given figure using appropriate tools
like ruler.
 Are you ready to learn in our new lesson?

d. presentation of samples ( pag-uugnay ng mga

halimbawa sa bagong aralin)

(The teacher presents a magic box; inside the box are

B. Development different shapes). Select some students some objects and let
(Pagpapaunlad) them describe each; then go in front and measure each shape
using the ruler.

1. Triangle
2. Square
3. Rectangle
4. Trapezoid
5. Parallelogram

II. Discussion
 What is Perimeter?
The word perimeter has been derived from the Greek
word peri meaning around and meter which means
measure.

Perimeter is the total length of the sides of a shapes.

is the distance around of a shapes. It is measured as a length can
be a range of units such as cm,inches,feet,miles etc.
Let’s get the formula in findings perimeter.

C. Engagement
(Pakikipagpalihan)

Processing (the teacher will give additional practice exercises )

Let us try this!

Let’s get the perimeter of this figures
The teacher will present any kind of shape and measure using a
ruler; the student will solve the perimeter in front of the class.)

The teacher shows the ruler to the pupils and asks some
pupils to measure the side of the objects shown.

(Possible result)
P=s+s+s
=6+6+6
=18cm
Or
P= a+b+c
=6+6+6
=18cm
P= s+s+s+s
=12+12+12+12
=48cm
Or
P=SX4
=12X4
=48CM

P=L+L+W+W
=10+10+6+6
=32Cm
Or
P=(2XL)+(2XW)
=(2X10)+(2X6)
=20+12
=32Cm

P=a+b+c+d
=5+8+12+8
=33cm

D. Assimilation
(Paglalapat)

P=2a+2b
=2(4)+2(15)
=8+30
=38cm
Or
P=a+a+b+b
=4+4+15+15
=38cm

a. Application:
Directions: find the perimeter of the following figures.
Directions: Give the formula and solve for the perimeter of
the square.
(The teacher will have a games for the class ”bring me”
The student need to bring forward the things or objects that
teacher mentioned.)
Sharing of the following objects and let the pupils describe their
shapes.
1.Handkerchief(square)
2.Notebook(rectangle)
3.Bond paper (rectangle)
4.Cone(triangle)
5.empty box of chocolate Toblerone (triangle)
6. laptop bag (rectangle)
7. Calculator (rectangle)
8. wallet(rectangle)

Group Activity: Measure the following objects using the

ruler in centimetre. Give their perimeter

Group 1:
1. Notebook(rectangle)
2. empty box of chocolate Toblerone (triangle)
3. Calculator (rectangle)

Group 2:
1. Cone(triangle)
2. Wallet (rectangle)
3. Bond paper (rectangle)

b. Generalization:
1.   What do we have learned today?
2. How do we get the total perimeter

Remember:

The perimeter of a closed figure in the distance around the

figure.

 To find the perimeter of a polygon get the sum of the length or

measurements of its side
